I'm pretty sure I've been translocated to Florida

Seriously. For the last four days it's been in the mid 90's by ten in the morning and every afternoon comes with a giant cloud burst. I'm pretty sure I'm back in hell Florida.

The cats were hysterical this morning. They are SO not impressed with this heat or my ability to air condition it away. They were flat out and LOOOOOONG this morning. I threw them some treats and I do throw like a girl so I wasn't quite on target. Neither one would get up and get it. They tried to get longer so not to waste energy then whined when they couldn't.

I do have even more good news. Check out my Author’s Page on Amazon. I think you can even 'like' me ala Facebook and boost my status. It is really cool to see all those books (sadly under the editor's name) with all those high starred ratings. It makes me look like people like me!

Not everyone likes me. Oh ho, no. This class is outrightly hostile this summer. Boo the fuck hoo. It's 'hard.' Dudes, it's a goddamn 7th grade biology class. Yes you DO have to do it in 5 weeks. It's SUMMER school. You knew that signing up. One guy was pretty hostile and he should be thanking me. After seeing my geek stuff he felt comfortable enought telling me he had to take the final early because he's going to a SF con in Chicago and I said yes and now you're gonna give me crap? I have a TA this summer, a formal student of mine and she graded their exam for me. She came up to me in horror and asked 'how do you teach here? the questions they were asking you in lab! The exam score! Most of them missed half! THey're so dumb.' Sigh.

Hell it is. These Long Island heat waves are getting WAY too common.
We used to get maybe one heat wave a season; this year, we've have four so far, and one this past spring.

I mentioned that it was Florida weather at work today and got some funny looks. I said, "Dark blue sky, bright white clouds, thunderclouds building in the afternoon, humidity, and heat." Speaking of thunderclouds, I saw an actual anvil cloud today.

Summer school is supposed to be harder, isn't it? You're cramming in more stuff in a shorter amount of time. GET OVER IT.

My cats have been very unhappy too... and me on top of that. At least you're getting cloud bursts, we havent' gotten rain in like a month. I've never seen grass and weeds burnt to death by the sun before, but there's no green grass anywhere (unless it's a spot that's normally shaded).

I've taken one summer school class and it was like a frantic panic marathon (it was for accounting). But, I was given the information so fast and so quickly that by the time the final came along, I didn't have time to forget information.... so it's good in that way! Sorry your students are giving you shit about it D: they did sign up for it.

yes this is what Florida is like only Florida is hotter and more humid and that is why I call it hell.
