Bought too many groceries. In my defense, a lot of this can sit on the shelf for a long time AND they're organic AND they were on the take it away please shelf at more than half off. Who could resist? At least I passed on the ridiculously over priced roast. I bought more stuff to make my salsa verde since I ate almost all I made yesterday.

I'm also so in the mood for the cardiac arrest pizza from the glass nickel pizza in Madison WI, mostly because I was describing it in my demon hunter story (adding on green olives and pepper rings for extra added salt). I will make it tomorrow. If I die, you know why.

And I think I have FINALLY come a decision on my non-erotica pen name. Jo Evans. Nowhere near as exotic as I've always imagined but easy to spell and remember and my grandma was JoAnn and my great grandmother was Josephine. It would be a nice way to honor them. (Though I really do love Josephine's sister's name Auleria, that's Julius Caesar's mother's name).

Other than that the day was spent making tests, fixing last year's lecture notes and working on another chapter for this year and no one needs more info than that.

Finished the first week of the 21 day meditation challenge. One of the write up's they sent had this quote from David Simon that I liked “Love is a celebration of unity and a rejoicing in our essential interconnectedness" I think we forget that easily.

For reasons I don't know Dad suddenly just HAD to google earth Three Lakes/Rhinelander WI (where I used to live) He couldn't be bothered to visit me mind you (he was working then but he did get vacations). He's like there's a whole lot of nothing out there. Yeah Dad, that's exactly it. Nothing but glacial lakes and pines. It was nice.

that's a possibility but massage won't fix nerve pain from this cause (accupunture less sure of). I am SHOCKED your mother even has a foot left after trying that (it's always the diabetics that do crazy ass shit that do fine and the ones that take ever precaution who go off the rails I'm not sure why).

The meds I'm talking about directly target the nerves. narcotics do not. They dont' even block pain. They just make you not give a shit about pain

If we hadn't dragged her kicking and screaming to the podiatrist (several yrs. of patiently explaining that all diabetics need to go having done no good at all) I'm sure she would have lost the foot fairly soon to either sepsis from an ulcer or just the Charcot getting too far gone to save. We spent all last week thinking she was headed for surgery and an external fixator - and I suspect if she was 65 instead of 85 they might have done that anyway. But the surgeon is willing to try a cast and then a brace and see if it will work. She may never be able to fully put her weight on it again. She also has post-polio syndrome which contributes to the neuropathy. We keep telling her she was lucky as hell she made it 57 years after the polio without needing a wheelchair or brace - she really shouldn't complain!

oh geez oh pete, man seriously lucky to have kept that foot and any kind of mobility. If they can get the bone stock up a little, she might be able to walk with a special shoe. Then again her age isn't in her favor
