The last two nights I kept thinking I heard rain (probably the combination of my damaged hearing, the fan and the fridge) but tonight it's raining.

Today I went shopping for furniture and went to half price book store and Costco's. I did find a really nice couch AND click clack futon couch at decent prices. The problem? Value City will not work withme on the shipping. I live a lone. I can't take off all day on a LAB day just to sit around and wait on furniture. I'll check with Big Sandy's back home and then maybe see if they can come on a non Tuesday/thursday. I can skip a day of class but not lab. Head desk. I REALLY wanted a different couch set that hand a double lounger that about swallowed me whole (I had to wallow to get up) but it was way too big for an apt and at 1600 was about a grand over budget.

Oddly enough I found very little at Halfprice book store. What I have noticed over the years that SF/Fantasy/UF readers DO NOT give up their damn books. Everything there was old old old. I found book 3 of Naomi Novik's series which is the newest thing I saw. Most stuff was from when I was in school. They had an entire set of a manga that I'd never seen before...in German, not helpful. (I'm surprised they bought it, really, this is not a big German area, not like OH or IN).

I did take back the broken (and oddly expensive) drying rack to Costco and replaced it with another one. There must have been something weak in the one i got originally. God Costco is a dangerous store!

The simple design of this fan still works beautifully and quietly (In spite of what Mr. Dyson would like you to believe with his 200$ fan). This fan is from the 1930's. It's older than my parents. It was Great Grandma Guiseppina's and it still works. It's in my bedroom here, keeping me cool. And if that doesn't work for simple, then i simply love Spock.

Sorry. I resemble that. I don't give up books that I reread. Most stuff, I give up rather easily - true crime, history, etc. Not my fantasy,SF or horror - if they're good, like my HP Lovecraft collection or the Poe works.

oh I NEVER gave away my books, ever until I hit 40 and didn't want to move them again and am totally out of room. So now I keep series I like and non fiction books that I find useful. I'm sure you've noticed the upswing in books I give out as gifts....

I totally understand you. I do give away some... I keep some nonfiction for the same reason.

Oh, and my craft book collection is out of control. :P

We first purged books when Barb and I combined our collection -- and then when we started to run out of room. As it is we have a shed full of book boxes and shelves packed to overflowing.

"But I MIGHT read it again!"
