House Hunting and other fun stuff

I did manage to finish the lecture I erroneously thought was done and made headway on the next one so I accomplished good stuff today. I think I'm THIS close to finishing the missing scene for my scarred soldier story (I know i have a few smoothing of bridges yet to do) so it should be ready for me to edit through myself and maybe find someone willing to look over it again.
So I was poking through the housing market again, tears rolling down my face either from laughter or the sheer ugliness of these things but I found a few. (do go down and click on the larger photos icon to really see the houses) In fact, I found a house I've been watching since I moved here go on sale. They did a ton of work (I'm not even sure it had a full second story when I moved here). Sadly for them they started before the crash and I'm not sure they'll get this price for a relative small home but it is a corner lot and adorable AND is on mansion row. South Street I would buy this one if I could afford it
I accidentally forgot to put the Jackson limiter on the search and ended up with towns all around. Oak Hill is actually closer to school than Jackson and I found this house, 20 years old (not 10 like I said on FB because apparently in my head it's 2002), HUGE house really with land for relatively not that much as in I could probably afford it. But even looking at the pictures it looks haunted. First thing ELD asked was 'who was murdered in it' or something to that affect and said she wasn't coming to this house. A couple local friends did find links to fraticide and are wondering if this IS the house. It's obviously been abandoned for some time and has a lot of nice stuff so...i have to wonder, is this the murder house? (i still kinda want it but ALL of Oak HIll feels off, like it's on holy ground that ain't so holy any more) also here the murder story
Okay this one is Wellston. If there is ANYTHING the hillbillies around here agree on it's to STAY AWAY from Wellston but this might be outside the city between it and Jackson. It's not a bad house. The payments are less than my rent but WHO puts a stove against a wall? How am I suppose to put pots on those side burners? possible potential
Next up an adorable ranch with a kitchen only ELD could love? WTF? Canary yellow tile and RED counters? not to mention the ancient cabinetry. The only saving grace is the 3 acres of land so I can bust the outer wall out and expand this kitchen into something that doesn't look like it belongs in my apt when I become the circulating librarian in hell (go read the dream post to get that reference) did clowns decorate this kitchen
Then there's this one north of Jackson near Lake Katherine which, if you ignore the moonshiners, is a nice bit of real estate. I could hike out there more than i do now. this ain’t bad
OKay this one is a bit fugly but it's 30K (fannie mae, they're trying to dump it). I could buy this outright with a loan from the parents. We looked and looked to find out why fugly is so cheap then I spot it. AH, look Mom, it has the same freaking asbestos siding like ELD had. It'll cost me another 10K just to haul that shit off there. Still I suppose i could get a loan for double it's asking price and really build something and still have payments around 300$/month should I buy it?
not much to say about this next one other than not bad
Then I decided to look at Albany which depending on where it is is @ 30-45 miles away from work (but unless google maps is wrong, which hey probably is, some of the places in Jackson are only 5 miles closer). This is near Athens but not IN it making it cheaper but I'm there in 15 minutes if that. That's the draw.
Okay this one is rather plain but servicable plain jane
This next one is a mystery. From the outside it looks like a falling down shack you'd run screaming from but I love the property and gardens and INSIDE it looks nice. WTF? I really need to go see this and it's only 28 miles from work.
Wish they had more than the hideous white painted paneled living room up to see on this one. I KNOW where this is. I've seen it. It's close to my chair's home a wee bit out of price range
And while we're on the topic of things that make me laugh and cry, dating. I've been looking more closely at my Match matches. Dear god, some men just don't get it. 1. I know you don't want your buddies knowing you're doing online dating but do you not have a SINGLE photo of yourself? No? Okay then when you take a photo of yourself in the bathroom mirror a) put on a shirt. Seriously can't stress that enough b) BUCKLE your damn pants because this 'i'm sexy and I know it' pose ain't working for you dude. 2. Okay, I don't mind pictures of you with your kids. I think it's dumb when you put up your engagement photo to another woman. Ditto your h.s. photo. I know it's your h.s. photo. You're 45. The kid in the picture is 18 and men, for the most part, don't do glamor shots any other time.
3. You can't all put I want a slim toned athletic woman. Sorry but you can't. Okay we all want that unless we're chubby chasers but we ought to be able to look in the mirror and say, let's be realistic. 4. why are all of you either religious nutjobs or you can smoke and drink but it says NO WAY to both for your date? 5. To all the men putting Jesus is the most important thing in my life all the time/every day, thank you for warning me. I'm betting there's no room for anyone else in that mix.
On a more uncomfortable note, all the typing for class and writing has stressed my bad hand. My thumb is wooden and pins and needly but the weakened muscles gave way and the damn thing dislocated. I can easily relocate it and it's not as painful as you might think.I'll put it in its brace tomorrow.
