Today I got to evaluate a math prof (I'm tenured so I can do that now). I learned math still makes me weep.

I also found this article interesting. living biblically Going off the guy who did it, a woman wanted to try it since women would have a totally different experience. Sure enough, some of the so-called Christians are furious because she's living like women are actually depicted in scripture as opposed to what certain sects have twisted women's roles up into.

I'm not sure how they're misconstruing this as mocking and insulting when she's doing pretty much word for word what women would have done... (frankly it's not my thing. I'm just sickly amused that even living the Bible to the word still isn't good enough for some people)

I didn't take it as mocking, personally. I'm not sure how to take it, really. If her convictions are strong enough for her to do this, then more power to her.

I'm not keen on any taliban, american or otherwise, telling women what they can and can't do.

And what exactly is wrong with living with a bunch of books and cats? Of the girls I hung around with in high school, I'm the only one who doesn't live like that (I have dogs instead). It sounds pretty good to me.

Check - I'm a big breed person too - I've shown and bred german shepherds most of my life - it's good that you are responsible enough to not have them if you aren't able to give the care they need.

I'm pretty lucky to have the time and space to keep the dogs I have now (a GSD and a great dane). If I could, I'd be in front of the computer all night but they force me to get out and run them.

I do like GSDs but Goldens and Labs are my favorites, the tight-jawed mastiffs and danes I like as well and irish wolfhounds (but they're harder to train. I DO like my affable retrievers)

It's the responsible thing to do. I'm at the office all day. I write most of the night. I don't have time to run around with a dog and I live in a small apt. If I had a house with a yard, that would be different. They could be out side and i could go out with them but cooped up in an apt? Heck i feel sorry for my cats

I only have 1 cat, but he pees like 10. I have a house filled with books. I think that counts. :-)
