Any French speakers around?

I know I have one or two on my list. Why oh why did I make one of my characters French when I know Merde, desole (which is probably spelled wrong), merci and oui? I need to be able to say the equivalent of 'what the hell are you doing here?' Also a few old time curses (you know something they might have said in the 30s) would be helpful. I'm pretty sure Merde! was around then and probably for a few centuries before that too.

I get done with school one week earlier than normal. I hadn't prepared for that. OMG WAAAAH.

I'm beginning to think I'm doomed to never sell a NON-EROTIC story. Yet again, it looks like the publication that bought my vampire story might go under. It might not but this happens to me ALL the time with this series.It gets bought then boom.

Things back home are getting tense (nothing I want to talk about really as lawyers are going to be involved) but I really feel bad for Mom.

I know enough French to order food and get a hotel room, but not the kind of French you need. Enemy's got that covered, though.

Yay for blowing through the word count. I'm hoping to finish before Thanksgiving so I can concentrate fully on doing the turkey and side dishes (read, pie!) for once. With any luck, you'll be doing the same thing. If there are lawyers involved, it may be a good thing if you don't have NaNo to distract you when you go home.

At least Conservative Cousin won't be whining at point-blank range through a bullhorn. Not that that will make up for the enforced proximity and probable duration of said cousin's whining. This definitely sounds like a good family Thanksgiving to miss :/.

Hi there ! I mostly lurk around here and never comment much of anything even though i'm an avid reader, but I believe I could be of use concerning your translation problem - I'm french.

Enemytosleep, most of what you said is really good !! Just a small issue though, it's "tu ne peux rien y faire" and not "te ne peux".

And about "pourquoi la baise êtes-vous ici", it's not really correct and sounds a little strange - there's no real equivalent in french to "what/why the fuck". I think you could go with "qu'est-ce que vous foutez ici?", or if you want to swear "putain, mais qu'est-ce que vous foutez ici ?"
("putain" might be our very favorite swear word, right after merde. It means "whore". Don't know if it was all that popular in the 30's though...)

Hope you don't take it the wrong way !! I sort of feel like I'm popping out of nowhere right now to give french lessons and it's really not my intention... ^.^
