It only took four hours and two tries and one call to Costco to finally get the Kaspersky downloaded. I'm sorry but there is something to be said for discs. What a pain in the ass but it's ready.

The Monitor on this thing is huge.

Unfortunately this took way more time than I expected so I got so very little done.

If anyone knows how to a) FIND where games load up on a computer (so I can transfer them) and where to dump them on the new computer, tell me please.

Other than that, I'm liking the new computer. I hadn't realized how terribly dusty everything was and I was a mess by the time the physical work was over.

Still hate windows 8 (and the customer service dude groaned when I told him what I had. Another fan I see) but hey new computer

I've seen Windows 8 and it's just bizarre. Why couldn't they leave well enough alone?

I keep asking that. So far not a single IT person I know likes it and all of them are of the belief it should have only been installed on touch screens since that's what it's designed for (according to the school's IT dept Microsoft is getting sued by Apple over the whole thing since it's a blatant rip off of the ipad)

I mostly use my regular desktop and only go to the apps layout when I want to play a game or something. In the whole, it's very like Windows 7, really, if you can live without the "Start" button (which, I will admit, it a MAJOR pain). It's not a perfect solution, but it's certainly workable; and I'm liking the new computer well enough to deal with Windows 8.

Shutdown can be reached, however, going back to the old-fashioned "ctrl-alt-delete" method.

i'm learning that the apps layout has word, powerpoint etc as a button so that's helping me out.

having to do a search to find other things that would have been under the start button is annoying.

oh good to know because the whole go hover in the lower right hand corner to bring up the shut down doesn't always work

Yeah, every time I've needed Control Panel I've had to do a search, which sucks. And that "hover in the corner" thing seems to come up every time I DON'T need it.

if you can get the hover thing to work I think control panel is under the start button. and yes it always comes up by accident when you're typing something but never when you actually want it.
