I feel OLD

Seriously. Someone on one of my Buffy groups pointed out that today Buffy would be 32. WTF? They're right. The story with the Judge and her 17th birthday was aired fifteen years ago. OMG. Why is there a rocket strapped to my back? Can't someone knock it off. This is why none of the kids get my Buffy or X-Files jokes.

For that matter, I graduated from medical school this may TWENTY years ago. Whimpers. I NEED my Vegas trip this year. Did I mention that trip (including the 400$ cost of my con) will cost nearly 1,900$? Here's hoping the school gives me a ton of money towards that because I had to borrow money from Mom just to get through this month. Thank god I didn't have to board Kanda.

And while I'm on it, I feel old and slow today.

If you want to see me babble about writing YA (and weigh in on things you might like to see) click here

And Verizon keeps cutting out on me. WHY oh WHY haven't I replaced them yet??

Day 6 declutter - 3 wine bottles that I kept for the labels. Caloo Calay, I now have back a significant portion of the counter space between the stove/fridge. I'm sure I'll clutter it back up but for now I have it.

Oh, sweetie, you are just a kid! I suspect my actual kids are older than you.

And here I am writing YA and erotica and fanfic, and planning to get a tattoo.

If they don't know about Buffy, that's THEIR problem, is how I see it.

What bothers me is students that don't know anything about Vietnam the first Gulf War Iraq Afghanistan.

hahaha it could be possible. I'm teaching kids who weren't even born when I graduated medical school.

I can't ever make up my mind what I want as a tatt. I'm better off with ever changing henna

that IS disturbing. I'm disturbed by the ones who know nothing about sex ed

When I was visiting my sister this fall, we watched some old favorite episodes of Buffy, and were blown away by how young the characters are. They're just ... kids! Even though I was already somewhat older than the characters were supposed to be when I watched the show, it was still only about a 7 or 8-year age difference, easily close enough to remember what it was like to be that age. Now ... it's like they exist in a whole different world. My sister and I kept looking at each other and going, "They're so YOUNG!" Not just in terms of how young they look, but how young they act.

I hear you. I was just starting my medical practice when that came out. Frankly I dont' even want to think of how young I must have looked to my patients 15 years ago.

And I saw Nicholas Brendon recently on Criminal Minds, let's just say the last 15 years have not been kind. He's aged so much

Her original IMD profile has the same DOB as me, to the year... now it's a year later...

The more you know... is depressing.

oh gee. either way the 30's aren't old (many would argue neither are your 40s)

One of the Buffy sites I still visit recently had a challenge running for the characters at the age they would be now. "In middle age" they said. A whole lot of us were NOT amused by that wording (a granddaddy of fandom included).

(I'm the same age as Buffy, and hold to the idea that middle age starts at least ten years upwards from your current age.)

I would not, nor should anyone call, 32 middle aged. That would mean dying before retirement. Geez.

Now I'm middle aged but giving that most of my family lives well into their 90's I'm still doing fine.

You’re just a spring chicken, sweetie! Mike turned 27 two weeks ago, and I had him late in life, so I feel old now, too!

But I refuse to act old, even if that’s how half the population see me!

But I refuse to act old this is the important part. I don't think I act (or even look) old but occasionally the body likes to remind me I'm in my mid-40's

Thirty-two? Interesting. I think. Maybe. Maybe I don't want to think about it.

(Though rewatching the X-Files, and seeing the copyright dates at the end of them makes me a little sad.)

it's amazing to me that living in NY was TWENTY years ago. Fuck living in FL is nearly 10 years ago

Believe me, I know that one about Florida. -_-

I hate to mention it, but she graduated in my husband's class- which is to say, the year after me.

It's really atrocious how time keeps moving forward. :P

Heh. There's some advantage to writing tons of future fic - the default Buffy in my head is generally 30+. :D

If it makes you feel old how do you think I feel? I've had so much fun writing this (2000 year old) muse and now some people don't recognise it!

hahaha, I hear you. I put the fluke man in my notes (I teach parasitology among other things) and they have NO idea who he or the X-files are either. My jokes about Buffy the Vampire Slayer when I'm talking the buffy coat in blood samples also go over their head.

hahaha! Man... has it been that long?? oh well, we kinda ARE old, I guess... but I have been turning younger generations on to the Buffy verse. An old college friend (who I also turned on to Buffy)'s 19 yr old daughter is my latest victim. Her mom flipped for it, and she loves it so much, she started the facebook page "Spike (the original hot vampire)". In fact, she and I are doing a Buffy marathon tomorrow.
