Spent the holiday in Wales
Mar. 31st, 2013 10:42 pmAt least in my mind. I was very busy working on my presentation. I only have about an hour left to finish it. It's too long. I'm sorry but I'd rather talk for an hour than 20 minutes. I don't know a professor who wouldn't. We can't shut the hell up especially when we're excited about a topic. I'm making it long and can always skip to the end or keep on going if the audience is into it.
Check out this picture we found in granny's stuff. It's 87 years old, taken in 1926, and apparently was eaten by the dog and trampled by a horse...

On the far left is my great grandfather, Giovanni Di Gobeo (angelicised Goblick), my great grandmother, Guiseppina and the young girl in back is my grandmother, Assunta. We don't know the little girl in front of her or the other adults. Probably neighbors. That's outside my grandmother's house (the one we're remodeling). We don't have many pictures of Giovannie and that's the first I've seen of Guiseppina with dark hair. The car is unusual too, a Cleveland which were only made for a handful of years and retailed for 1,150 which was very pricey then. Not sure how they afforded it. The garage behind it, well that burnt when I was kid.
I naturally dyed some eggs. Something went wrong with the blue ones which are faintly blue (washed out by the flash). That was done with red cabbage. It usually comes out robin egg blue. The faint red-orange ones were done with some ancient paprika I wanted to get rid of.

And I bought this dress for myself because well I wanted something to be pretty in. Belladonna Isn't it lovely. I got it in blue divine.

Date: 2013-04-01 03:49 am (UTC)I love the photograph. The missing headed person intrigues me.
Pretty dress. Everything on that site is pretty.

Date: 2013-04-01 04:02 am (UTC)Me too. not sure what happened there but...
I know. I could buy one of everything

Date: 2013-04-01 02:29 pm (UTC)Hopefully not something nasty; it could make an interesting story, though that idea's been used before.
There were definitely clothes I wanted. Mostly of the medieval persuasion.

Date: 2013-04-01 03:42 pm (UTC)true true, it really looks as if it had been balled up once
I liked those too but I was looking for something I could wear anywhere this time

Date: 2013-04-01 04:10 pm (UTC)Yeah, those do make for interesting stories.
Eh, I don't get to wear dresses except to medieval events, or I haven't in forever, except for Niece Meemoo's wedding.

Date: 2013-04-01 07:21 pm (UTC)they do

Date: 2013-04-01 09:22 pm (UTC)I need to go through the family photographs Mom got when the last great aunt died.
Dress? To work? What's that?

Date: 2013-04-02 02:07 am (UTC)yeah we're trying to do that now before granny goes and we have no idea who these people are
it helps to separate me from the schlumps

Date: 2013-04-02 02:09 am (UTC)Yeah. Mom recognizes most of the photos. I'd recognize Aunt Beck; there are lots of pictures of her with her dog, Spot.
hahahaha, I suppose it would.

Date: 2013-04-02 03:37 am (UTC)we didn't know who half these people are. Even grandma doesn't kow her mother's sister's name. We have a picture of her

Date: 2013-04-02 11:45 pm (UTC)Wow, that's pretty sad/scary. But then you can make up fun stories about them, right? "That's cousin Bert, he actually wound up joining the circus and being a knife thrower!"

Date: 2013-04-03 03:01 am (UTC)I could. Frankly, I thought the woman was half African. I can make up stories about my Moorish ancestors

Date: 2013-04-01 03:51 am (UTC)I didn't dye eggs because I know we won't eat them afterward. We hid plastic eggs for Joey to find (which he collected in his halloween pumpkin bucket XD)
And have you ordered from Belladonna before? I jsut want to know if they're true to size or not. they have some beautiful dresses (pretty much all I wear in the summer)

Date: 2013-04-01 03:59 am (UTC)I eat a lot of eggs (it's like something a diabetic can have so...)
It's holy clothing, belladonna is the dress and no. I haven't. I'll let you know if it's true to size

Date: 2013-04-01 03:50 pm (UTC)since this picture? two more houses were added in the last 87 years

Date: 2013-04-01 02:36 pm (UTC)And wow, that is a pretty dress (and I'm not a dress type person). Very airy and light.
Oh! Do you have that link for the open steampunk that Dreamspinner has that is due in...June I think it is? I started something but don't really like the way it started. :/ Thought I'd look over what they want again before giving it another try.

Date: 2013-04-01 05:15 pm (UTC)Beautiful dress, and Divine Blue is a lovely color. I have a blouse, not actual Holy Clothing but very much the same material and technique, that's probably my favorite and most flattering top. It's indigo, though, not a really pretty color. I second Sonjajade--let us know how the sizes run. You never know with Indian-made garments. I've found I sometimes wear size large or even XL in imported pants, even though I wear small or medium in American sizing.

Date: 2013-04-01 07:11 pm (UTC)I think it'll be very flattering. I ordered via their sizing chart but yes i'm very afraid of it being from India and too small

Date: 2013-04-01 09:29 pm (UTC)And the dress is pretty too!
