Everyone is incompetent today

Including me but ESPECIALLY the furniture store. Big Sandy, thank you for setting up delivery time for my couch, making me bust my ass moving everything in my living room only to call me and tell me you can't find the couch and it won't be delivered (they think it went to the wrong store). Thanks for nothing. What if I had taken the day off since you're delivering in the middle of a work day? I can't be here next Friday. Special. Thank god my landlord is equally incompetent and never came for the old couch to help me move it to the dump. I'd be on the floor for weeks.

I'm incompetent because I forgot to give my students something for the test on Monday. Thank god I got it up online at the last second.

As for the students, let's see, one slept thru the exam and got there just as we were leaving. Another didn't show, this is the same student who says she can't do ANY of the online stuff since it never works for her. I ask you, what are the chances that three different online softwares needed for class wouldn't work for just ONE student out of 70? And then there's the one who last week realized class started a half hour before it did. 11 weeks out of a 15 week semester....

And then my dress arrived registered mail but naturally I wasn't here. I rush to the post office only to find the carrier took that package (why I have no idea. Have I EVER been home in the day? Is anyone?) and wasn't back yet so I have to HOPE they'll bring it back tomorrow. GAH.

Now I'm wondering if we have a Big Sandy here, so I can snub them next time I buy furniture. Like I don't get my furniture from the consignment store up the street instead of buying new, but it's the thought that counts, right?

I hope you got your hands on that dress. If they're going to deliver registered mail to working people, they might as well just wait till Saturday--and the sender needs to WARN YOU when they mail it, so you'll know what day to expect it and can make plans (and maybe catch the postman and have him hold it till Saturday).

I keep wondering what 90% of your students expect to do for a paycheck when they leave college. Stuff like the above just makes me wonder more. And worry more.
