Tomorrow will suck
May. 13th, 2013 10:23 pmHell today sucks too. So I was moving boxes and dragging out summer clothes/putting away winter ones. I now have a muscle in a fist sized knot under my bad shoulder, a spasm in my back/hip muscles on the side with all the arthritis and aggravated that nerve damage in my hand and can't feel it. Tomorrow shall be a painful day of suck. Also I'm very disappointed by my summer clothing. I think I have officially had it all too long. I need find new everything both casual and dress.
I should head west and kick
bay115 for finding me something new to waste my time with. It's a new anime and she's not wrong. It's very good. It's brand new, made just a few months ago. You can find it legally on Hulu. It's called Psycho Pass. It's rather fascinating. It's a little like Minority Report in that we're now able to predict criminal behavior.
The very first episode makes it clear this is a dystopia masquerading as a utopia. Akane is fresh out of the police academy and has no idea how life as an inspector really works. Sibyl (presumably a machine) monitors everyone's mental health. If someone gets a little cloudy and stressed above a certain level, the inspectors either bring them in for therapy or kill them. Akane barely understands this much. She's thrown in the deep end going after a man who is a threat to society. he has a hostage.
Ginoza, the veteran enforcer gives her a dominator (a gun that can monitor the psych-pass and it either paralyzes someone who is a threat or turns them into a flesh and blood pudding (it's a bit gory, not excessively so) or won't shoot at all if the person isn't a threat. What Akane didn't even really know is she'll be given Enforcers, people who are latent criminals and used by the cops to hunt others of their kind, like hounds hunting a fox.
The rest of the team is enforcers, Shinya (the most able so far, cute too), Masaoka (old dude, sort of fatherly to Akane so far), Kagari (the redheaded jokester) and Kunizuka (the only female enforcer and so far the least developed but I've only seen 2 episodes).
What makes it interesting is the Enforcers, being forced to help the police but virtual slaves since they can't be rehabilitated. Kagari is pretty young and was tagged as a criminal since he was five for example. And the other thing that makes it interesting is that Sibyl makes no distinction between reasons for the dangerous stress levels. When the hostage doesn't take well to being tortured and raped, Sibyl tags her for elimination and Akane is horrified.
You can see the potential right away for a thoughtful, very well animated and voiced adult storyline.
It's funny I got an anime from Netflix today, took one look and said 'wow must be 1990's anime' (it was). It's just amazing how much the styles changed at the turn of the century. Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo and the original FMA really ushered in an era of better art and voice actors that just blow the previous away (well the ENGLISH ones I mean). This anime is 1998 and the actors sound like they're reading off cue cards, not as badly as in the 70's and 80's but still....
Speaking of anime this is in my head canon. Roy does this at his aunt's place for fun and/or how he keeps those killer arms. I've used regular poi before. It's MUCH harder than it looks and your arms get tired quick at first. Mostly I just bash myself in the head or in the boob (mostly likely target). Besides I could see Roy dancing like this.
or this (or just enjoy the handsome young men playing with fire)
Had to deal with my phone company AGAIN. Once more I got an automated call over the weekend saying I owe money. WHen I call, the automated system says I paid on the 4th (which is when it was due). I talked to a real person who said it went in today. Either way, it's paid but this keeps happening with them. At least they're pleasant at the call center
Declutter Day 77 item tossed -Even more rooibos tea why kept -Was a gift why tossed -I hate rooibos, given to a friend

Date: 2013-05-14 03:35 am (UTC)The poi videos are fun to watch. I don't think I'm brave enough to do that. XD

Tell me about it. the original poi isn't not on fire. If I were to ever get good at it, they do chemical glowstick types. At least that way you're not in danger of setting yourself on fire.
