Whee Awards

As of to make up for the generalized crappiness of my mood as of late, here come awards.

They're both from the Heroes Awards (which run continually so check them out and read the rules since they are different. Well you should always read the rules).

The Holly Green, the Buffy and Angel take Sorcha to see Santa story won for best fluff. (You don't want to miss Angel being tormented by a cat do you?)  

 

And The Games of Childhood, my Steven and Holtz in Quor-Toth exploration of Connor at age 5 won for best child fic (if you can call Connor a child. And this is up at the Geek Girlz's pretty new archive so go look, please. Input on the archive is welcome).    

 

And I got BOTH stories for my Lyrical ficathon done. One story needed to be put to sleep. It was supposed to be short. It bloated to 30 pages of angst with a touch of hope so I pulled out a shot gun and shot it dead last night. Where it fell is now the end of the story. Figures Connor and Angel can't evere shut up EXCEPT for the Post Not Fade Away ficathon that's supposed to be about their relationship and they aren't speaking to each other, quite literally so right now Buffy and Connor's wife are doing all the story telling (and Buffy wasn't even supposed to be in this story)

Oh and since my Flist is so well rounded and intelligent (yes I'm stroking you all for a favor) does anyone out there know which Hieronomyous Bosch pictures featured his distinctive key? I know what the key looks like but I'd like to know which paintings it's from (and the one book on the man the library had must have been for junior high art class and has nothing of importance in it). It's for my CYA ficathon. Thanks.

Killing Nina is always funny :D

Okay so I've never actually written anything where Buffy killed Nina. She attempted to once and Angel stopped her.

But it sounds like loads of fun.

Poor Nina. I didn't mind her so much as she was superfluous and felt tacked on by the studio as opposed to anything that grew into the show naturally.

Very true. I think what bothered me most about Nina was the mention of perfect happiness and Buffy in bed.

What woman is okay with that? I'm like WTF

And it irked me that Angel told Connor about Nina in NFA when it could have been the perfect place to say here's a letter to Rome. If I don't make it mail it. If I do, I'll tell you about the girl it's addressed to.

yeah the whole Nina conversations struck me as inane. Wesley's 'well how often does true happiness happen' was just so lame. Okay that gives license to any Angel shippers in the future to get around the stupid curse however. I was using it before that but hey now it's canon.

Oh the whole coffee house scene irked the hell out of me (actually NFA was just a lousy episode if you ask me) yes, you'd think he'd say something to Connor but really, the 'i know you're my dad speech comes AFTER the Nina story. Hello? Does Connor have strange men telling him about their love lives normally after meeting them only once?

Yeah. I liked Wes' speech in the fact that I'm 12 years old and danced on the couch going neener neener Buffy and Angel had it. But yeah, it kind of makes coming up with a creative way to bind his soul moot.

And yeah, the coffee house scene bothered me. A lot of things about NFA bothered me. You would think that any love life stories would come after the I know you're my dad thing, but then it's Connor so maybe he does have strange men telling him about their love lives. I think a lot of things got neglected because they were trying to tie up so many threads so quickly only to leave the whole ball of yarn dangling.

My husband still insists that wasn't a finale that was an opening to a movie. Maybe one of these days we'll see the movie.

I'm sure that they just ran out of time for stuff on NFA since we tried to tie up everyone's life and I know Joss wants to do what your husband suggests but he'd better do it ASAP. James is looking his age and David well, he's aging too.

Yes they are. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he has something up his sleeve he's just not telling us about until he's got confirmation. Until then...well NFA will keep us fanfic writers busy for a long time fixing things.

They wanted a KEY as one of the items. My brain insisting it's the key that Bosch used multiple times to represent knowledge. It refuses to make it oh you know Buffys house key or something. Damn brain.
