This is where all my friends in TX and AZ (who I laugh at in the winter) get to laugh at me. So. Damn. Hot. (it was almost 90, temp and humidity). The skin is peeling off my hands and feet again as my body goes into protest mode.

I'm excited [livejournal.com profile] gsd_rtfn is up and running this week.

I'm at the point in the edit of my story where I realize that I changed the first name into a last name and neither me nor my beta notice. Head desk.

I went out to South Hills village all day shopping with my best friend from college. We spent more time together than usual which was very nice. We also hit the mall hard. I got a pretty sundress at Macy's for 28$ (yes if you shop their sales rack you get the clothes are cheap) and a set of shorts, sunglasses at sears and a cat toy at Target. We had a lot of fun. I went to Trader Joe's and bought too much food.

SA and I are both looking at houses (at least it's just me and I'm not trying to balance the needs/desires of a husband and two kids) but I found this one last night. I've always rather wanted a geodesic dome, well in theory. What a bitch it would be to re-roof. dome house I'm trying to figure out why if it dates to 1985 it's only half finished. It's cheap enough and isolated enough and oddly large but yeah, could you see me doing THAT stair case? I'd be dead in a week.

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

Oh man, I LOVE that house! It probably would be kind of a pain to actually live in, but I really adore it.

I agree totally

Ooo, I love that house. Zog always wanted one of those.

I'm glad you had a good day shopping.

yes I remember him telling me that. The stair case makes it a no-go for me

The Macy's in South Hills is SO much better than the one closer to home.

yeah, definitely.

You always have good luck when you go shopping, as I recall.

unless it's shoes. I suck at finding shoes

I can usually find shoes.

they're my kryptonite. i think I WILL have to go back to Macy's and get the more expensive sandles (with coupon) because Payless had diddly. ALWAYS too wide for me

I found one pair of the shoes I'm currently wearing to work (sorta moccs, with zippers and pointy toes and maybe they're not like moccs at all) at Payless, but the deck shoes came from Sears. I usually have decent luck there.

my problem is unusual. My feet are the only skinny thing about me. At least now that they're spreading with age, i can get normal shoes

I have narrow feet, and it's hard to find shoes to fit. Very annoying.

From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
it is because they make wides but rarely do they make narrows

Yeah, I generally have to make do with mediums.

Mom's got long narrow feet - she wears a size 10 - so she has it even harder. At least I can fit into boy's shoes, sometimes, and they're a little narrower.

Yeah I'm not quite a 10 but close depending on a shoe. though one at payless was actually and 8 1/2

I had to buy a 7.5, which is really big on me generally.

What a strange little house!

I've always wanted a Victorian with a turret room and widow's walk.

isn't it though?

Well yes, that is my dream house and some of them are for sale in Jackson BUT most are quarter of a million AND you can touch your neighbor's house by leaning out your window. shudder

I know. There are a lot of reasons I'll never own a Victorian, but I've always loved the idea of a turret room. Sigh.

yeah I know what you mean. I would still like one. There is one near mom and dad by itself facing the lake. how perfect

The dome house is cool, and affordable, too. I think I need to buy it and get it shipped down here--the geodesic dome is far more hurricane-proof than the huge end gables we have now. It's twenty years younger than our house, too. Hopefully the attempted renovations (I'm assuming that's the reason for the bare studs in the photo) didn't ruin the house. I would have no problem with the spiral staircase. Neither of the parents could climb the stairs, so I'd have the upstairs to myself (evil grin).

Having finally been inside a Trader Joe's, I now see why it's so easy to spend money there. I came home with green tea mochi ice cream balls--they were delicious. I want more. Too bad the nearest Joe's is in Gainesville.

it is cheap and it comes with the outbuilding too. Yes, I'm thinking it had to be stuck mid-rennovation. Sadly I would never get up those stairs. You can have it.

Aren't those green tea mochi good?I bought some today. Yeah I have to go all the way to Columbus when I'm home. Even here it's about 40 minutes out.

Yep, it dropped to a mere 105-106 the last few days (from the record-breaking heat) - did not break the 122 record in Phoenix this week, though, so there's that. :)

However, you DO have the humidity, and while it makes some people grit their teeth, "dry heat" DOES make a difference!

Sometimes there are some features you really DON'T want as a homeowner (I would love a pool, for example, but the maintenance and upkeep... BLEAH.)

That is all kinds of nuts. And yes as much as I hate it, the dry heat is a bit better than the humidity but only a bit.

we're of one mind on the pool

It boils down to "it's freakin' hot" no matter how you slice it.

yep and dad keeps making noises about wanting to move there because he's morphed it into some kind of happy lala land where no one litters

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!

Okay, that's REALLY funny.

I KNOW. He gets pissed when I point out he's living in lala land. Mostly I think it's a way to get mom away from her friends and he'll have her all to himself for the 10 minutes it takes her to make a new friend. Mom is social and very wise to this.

But seriously he thinks it's dirty here (yes there IS a lot of litter) but if he wants no litter, go to Wisconsin, the cleanest damn place I've ever lived and I've lived everywhere but the northwest
