I do love Maisie but oddly I'm not sure I would have liked this novel if i had read it first, not with that 150 pages of backstory in the middle. I think I started with book 4 so I knew all the characters and enjoyed it as a result

yeah - that's the only downer: Winspear spends about 20 pages/novel filling the reader in on the backstory.

Yeah. well that's pretty par for the mystery series course. I don't mind unless it gets too bad
