It's even worse back home. Many towns around the parents' are completely flooded. Parent's basement is flooded. No doubt granny's is too where my stuff is. (it's been declared a state of emergency in her town) I hope it takes the humidity out of the air. It's been hard to breathe (I mean that quite literally I've needed my inhaler. It's been very hard to teach. I have to keep stopping).

I got to the bank and they're trying to get my money back. I forgot one of my insulins back home. I wasn't supposed to get it there. They filled it by mistake. CVS (I have a champion there now) called United Health Care and they said they make no exceptions for lost/forgotten meds. They told CVS I could go to my doctor and get a sample. What the holy fuck? You know what, the faculty get a say in our insurance and I'll be sure to tell H.R. about this. We can always go back to the other insurance. I'm willing to pay that extra 5% raise.

I had such a weird dream last night. I was in Vegas with Mom. First it was fun. We were seeing shows and then we wanted to see one that we needed to get on a small plane for. It landed first up the strip then went to texas where the show was. Um? For one a plane couldn't possible take off and land in just the length of the Strip and why would it but my brain was insistent.

Then it took a weirder twist. I was clutching Kanda to my chest and wouldn't let him go. I needed a box for him. There were two vets trying to take him away from me. They kept showing me paperwork that said I wanted him euthanized for incontinence. I kept saying if I had signed that paper I changed my mind. Mom was trying to calm me down. I remember giving the old vet the finger and then mom and I took off. We were in a big building with all kinds of dead cats then on a plane and I remember telling Kanda he just had his first plane trip but all the while these people were chasing me so they could kill my cat. Really brain? WHY?

Brains suck. Sometimes I have dreams where I'm trying to find or protect a cat, either my current cat or one that has passed on.

Last night as I was *finally* about to fall asleep my brain woke me up to ask why the people who cook ricin in their kitchens or garages or whatever don't die from poisoning, since it's not like they're working in a lab. First, thanks Brain, for waking me up with a totally pointless question. Second, what the heck is up with my subconscious? What weird mental neighborhoods does it hang around in when I'm asleep?

We've had a lot of flooding around here too. Fortunately, I live in one of the unaffected areas. There's just so many hills and valleys here that one street will be flooded but the next street over isn't.

Tinker knew about the rain almost an hour before it hit yesterday and hid under the sink in the bathroom. He didn't come out until three hours after the rain ended.
