I'm going to hate the next 2 years
Aug. 28th, 2013 10:50 pmI wonder if I can suggest taking the second row in the parking lot and making it faculty only. They closed a building on campus and put all the professors and classes in OUR buildings so I've been having to park at the aging center illegally because there is NO faculty parking. Student Parking. ANY parking. Bah.
At least my students are still promising. No one is asleep at any rate. Oh and the lock on the faculty toilet is broken so now you have to go in teams. Fun. This place is like living in a third world country.
Today and yesterday reminded me hard that I should probably get a ranch house. Holy fuck am I in pain. I NEED that shoulder surgery and I really think I need it over Christmas. Even mom is hearing the pain in my voice and has relented on no holiday surgery (she relies on me to help her). I'm not sure why my knees and heel spurs are acting up now. I taught all July and I was on my feet longer. Tuesday I can understand and tomorrow. I have NO breaks. None. I laugh at people who whine their lunch breaks aren't long enough. I've never had a job where I even had a break. I go for 4-5 hours back to back lab or class, no breaks, no lunches, sometimes I give 5 minute breaks so I can pee (and only because the diabetes has taken over my sad little life).
And for some reason my dyshydrotic eczema has really acted up. I mean, it's not really THAT hot this year but the lesions went from an inch, to three inches to my entire sole and the sides and toes of both feet. ITCHY. Now the hands are peeling again and that hurts. Whine Whine WHINE.
My landlord fixed the security lights now that we've all been robbed. So it's like sleeping in the Las Vegas strip. I tried to put a blanket over the window but my arm won't go up that high without breath-robbing pain as the spur stabs into shit. And I DO have a reacher stick which I was using to clean my floor the other day. Think I can find it? no so I shoved the blanket up there with a broom. I feel like an old woman and i'm NOT that old.
Good news, though, Nano group is getting together next week. Starting to plot things out. Or knowing me, waste more time but it'll be a fun wasting so, fine.
And I found roasted, peeled chestnuts in a bag at the Athens Kroger's YUM. OMG. And I don't remember them being more than any other dried fruit (i.e. pricey). I'm so happy.
Everyone has their causes, stop animal abuse etc. I've always been more concerned with stopping child abuse (which would probably stop a lot of other issues) so I often see some pretty horrific stories. But this one is too monstrous for words It's not abuse, not in the classical sense, but someone grabbed this child and gouged out his eyes, left them there and took off. I can't even imagine any part of this.
While you can't really balance a story like that, here's my other cause, veteran affairs. You may have seen this image. Now this is this is love It's stories like this that give me hope.
