I get to call the student loans tomorrow and tell them to default me. Whee fun. There goes my credit...for life. This will always be there. no sense in even trying to do good. It won't matter. On the upside my lawyer says I'm non-collectible which means they can't get a dime out of me because I'm way too poor. Can we say this week will suck?

On another note, on the way home (of course they wait until I'm in the car on a lonely country road where I can't pull over and take notes) two new characters jump up and tell me about this YA novel they want me to write. Uh huh. Really now? You don't say? And you two are....and why should I listen to you? What makes you think I want to revisit high school on your behalf?

And I'm in need of a beta for a Connor/Angel father/son story set about 6 years post NFA (with a healthy dose of Giles, Buffy and original character plus a few suprise baddies) if interested let me know. THanks. This will be a longer work. Need to get off my butt for the CYA thing too.

Oh and I dare anyone to use this in a vintage Buffy or Angel story (I could so see Ethan here provided I could figure out a reason for him to be in Wisconsin). I know where this place is. I've seen it from the outside. I'm dying to see what it is like now. Even if you're not tempted to write a story, please, peruse this website because it's good for a giggle. I give you the grooviest hotel in the United States, The Gobbler

Bummer on the student loans. I gather you've tried consolidation. What about declaring bankruptcy? That might be a better way to go...

Would love to beta for you on the story, but right now am committed up the proverbial wazu.

Finally, the motel? kewl, definitely kewl.

consolidated, bankrupt going on 5 years now. You can no longer dismiss students loans even with my partial disability. I have to be 100% disabled for life. So, since I owe a quarter of a million dollars, there's no other options left outside of default and hope the hell they can't take the house when it's left to me.

Trust me I understand about the commitments.

I'm tempted to go down and see the hotel in person. It's between Madison and MIlwaukee but I didn't realize it was this funky.

That picture of the Passion Pit, in the motel? With the charming blue carpet up the walls? I lived in this huge house once, where the massive loungeroom had PINK carpet up the walls. And I seemed to be the only one who thought it atrocious - I remember a chap who came to look at the air conditioner and said he thought the carpet was "classy"....WTF?????????

And you know, I'm hearing you on that bankruptcy/default thing. I came within inches of declaring voluntary bankruptcy only a couple of weeks ago. Long story, suffice to say that I hope a certain rental video company here rots and dies.

must be related to blockbuster. I refuse to use those fucks. They charged me for all these videos I rented and returned late. Hmm since i was out ofc the state in the time in question and had to talk to the management with my airplane tickets as PROOF and they still wouldn't accept it.

I've done the bankruptcy thing already. No choice. That's not so bad. 7 years and you're okay. This is for LIFE. I can't even inherit now because they'll take it all. So fuck 'em. I told my grandma and my parents to take me out of the will. Give it ALL to my brother. The US government can bite my ample ass.

As fo the carpetted walls, I'm just thinking in a hotel could you imagine the um...stains

That sucks about the loans. It is ridiculous how the government has structured this.

The Gobbler might be the single tackiest thing I've ever seen and I've seen tacky. If I was more of a plot writter, I would put it in a story.

The loans are the #1 reason I've been depressed beyond reason for 5 years now. I'm being killed and thank GOD my parents didn't co-sign. They were supposed to. I was under-aged at the time (you had to be 25) but they told the government I didn't live wtih them (I didn't) and they had nothing to do with me and to hell with co-signing. If they hadn't THEY would be responsible for that quarter mill too.

As for the Gobbler, isn't it delightfully tacky. I'm trying to remember back 5 years but i think it's called teh King Arthur's Round Table now...or Excalibur or something to do with Arthur

Sympathies on the credit woes. :/

That hotel is scary. Although we don't have anything quite that awful around here, I can remember going to Googy's coffee shop when I was a kid. It was in a shopping mall, so the exterior was undistinguished, but the interior design was...well, I can see the kinship. There are a few round buildings left in the Valley from that era--a once-bank over in Tempe (I think it's part of ASU now) a Phoenix church that greatly resembles a flying saucer, and a baptismal at another church which we fondly refer to as the Muffin Of God. Unfortunately their interiors hade long since been removated.

I remember that building in Tempe. ANd I remember a bar, three stories high with a fake LoTR meets Bonzana tree in the middle of it. At least I think I did. I was pretty drunk at the time. I just sent a resume to a school in Tempe.

I think the Gobbler is now King Arthur's or something. I used to drive past it all the time when I lived in Madison heading to MIlwaukee for something to do and if i had any clue that might have been waiting inside I would have stopped.
