Okay I give up stomach. I do. I was on the phone with mom talking when my stomach gives a little wiggle without warning and bam, mouth full of acid and some brown bits which might be dried blood (this has happened before). blisters all over the back of my throat and my lungs/nose is burning since I probably breathed in the acid. Mom's like - throw up acid again? Me - yeah - Mom- GET THE FRAKKING SURGERY. Mom did you just say Frakking?

I looked it up. I'm probably going to have to go to Columbus or leave the state (Ashland KY, Huntington WV) to see someone that isn't local. I did see my old gastroenterologist from 1997 is still there. I'll have to cancel class but I might try going up there. SIGH.

Okay onto what you came here for. BOOKS!!! You know the drill, talk to me about any and all of them.

if they can do all the things that need doing I might but if they can only do the one surgery then I might be screwed because the other problem and this surgery are mutually exclusive

didn't a relative just have that surgery? how are they doing since? based on that - yeah, go get it! after my surgery (and all she found in there), I'm the new "if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out!" surgery girl now =D

She did but there are caveats like you can never vomit again. However, the gastric paresis (not addressed by this surgery) makes me vomit a lot. I may not be a candidate for the surgery and now I'm going to have to drive 100+ miles several times to find out

never vomit again... that's a big one. so they can't really fix the flap as much as nail it into place? :/

they wrap the stomach around the valve in someway or another but whatever it is, it's not working as a functional valve in the traditional sense which makes sense as it's a complicated sphincter made of radial muscles

Get thee to a specialist. Surgery may or may not be in the books but other solutions could be. To paraphrase your mom, Get the FRAK to a doc now. As a doc yourself, I'm ashamed you've taken this long.

well I HAVE been doctoring it since I was 12. I have pills (that my insurance company just KNOWS I don't need) but I've been watching the surgery progress from open surgery with a cut bigger than open heart surgery to this thing with the beads. I will most likely just give in, take a day off work and drive to Columbus because I see no one in this area at all other than the 2 I've been to and don't like (I see none in Athens area)

thank you. I'll keep that in mind if I need the endoscopy. I KNOW I need an endoscopy but I couldn't get the twits at Holzer to do it. I need one every 5 years. they did it in 2006 but wouldn't even bother to consider it this year
