We had one at the Greer museum on campus. He worked in ceramics. I didn't get to meet him (had a meeting) but one of the art students ran a post card announcing it over today...I told the art profs that maybe a day or two in advance would help but the issue is getting it done and only the sports people get to email all day every day. Ah well.

THe stuff was an homage to old things, an old way of life. The two I liked most were the mortars, looking like my great-grandma's kitchen but instead of big wood mashers, these were terra cotta. And the other thing I really like was just an inverted arch in terra cotta that looked like the headpiece in ST:TNG 'Mask', Korgano. Even though very little spoke to me, I LIKE going to art showings and the like. I appreciated that it wasn't at 8 pm like the faculty music was yesterday (which I didn't stay for).

And I'm working on my own art, apparently. Besides writing, I make jewelry. I'm not great but I enjoy it. That said I haven't done it in SO long. Today I got the email of doom from Fire Mountain Gem, all their marble beads were .25 cents a strand. I went a little overboard. I need to get beading wire too but I can probably get that locally.

I found out today there is a SF/fantasy writers group in Athens. I think some of my nano group might check them out. Sigh. Sometimes it sucks to live out here.
