I kind of agree with you with dogs in apartments or units without yards. dogs can't live like cats, in all day using a box to pee etc. dogs need a fenced yard. they need to go out about every 4 hours, 6 tops, depending on their age and health. I loathe "piddle pads" that basically train your dog to crap in the house. people without yards that are going to be gone a lot need to just get a cat.

that's my philosophy. Even if you do train them to use a litter box (as some people are) dogs need exercise etc. These dumb shits get big dogs too, except for the moron with the Chihuahua they let run free for the coyote to eat

I wish you lived closer to me, I'd let you use the cat shelter I bought that Neme has no interest in. Since Teyla disappeared, it's just sitting out there empty. I even have a heating pad that goes with it.

no they do come home but not til late which is why i'm wondering if it's just HIM and her and the kids are gone.

That's why that even though I'd like to get a dog and it breaks my heart to see all the dogs in shelters that need homes, I won't even consider it until I retire and I can be home with it the majority of the time. Of course my cats are probably happy that I *don't* have a dog. LOL

I'm glad the bad weather started early and you didnt get trapped in it. You definitely don't need that.

Some people should not be allowed to have pets.

amen. and morons always get the wrong dog. they know nothing of dogs or breed needs (and usually don't care past "it's cute and I want it")

and good fences help with everything. pet's in, wildlife out. we have so many hawks here, we even had a special enclosure for teddy (the rescued Chihuahua) that he would stay in called "the condo". barry built it originally for some rescued kittens, but we found it was perfect for ted. kept him high and dry and safe when he had to be out unsupervised.

when you're ready, a good shelter should be able to tell you who is afraid of cats or aggressive with cats etc. most get histories or test them on intake.

oh absolutely, and some cats will never accept a dog. a shelter could help you there too, as most will let you do a trial meet and greet or foster to test the waters.

we were surprised that both of our cats actually showed interest in our dogs and pursued the relationships. both were off the street out here, and we thought they would have some issues. but not these two. and our goofy ginger, sidney, showed absolutely no fear of dogs which worried me - a healthy wariness is a good thing

Yeah, in my mom & dad's house whenever we brought in a new cat or dog, we'd just bring them in and let them sort it out. I don't think we ever had a case where they didn't all get along after a bit of hissing. I'm having more problems right now with my formerly stray feral kitty who is now thoroughly tamed and wants to live inside with us, but my other two cats don't want to accept him. But it's winter, he's staying in if he wants, and they'll just have to get over themselves. LOL

he showed up on my porch today selling his services but I had to say no since I didn't have a dollar. He and the other young boy from C-3 are hauling trash to the dumpster. I'll have to remember to get a dollar on the weekends.
