So they waited until now to try and get my MRI approved (it's in 2 days) and they can't in spite of me giving them all the information weeks ago. 'We can't find your doctor.' 'That's because the clinic is in Pittsburgh.' 'Oooooh.' 'I TOLD you this.' 'I don't know who you talked to but there is no record.' 'i gave you everything including the diagnostic codes.' 'Oh we have the codes.' 'So I DID talk to you.' 'I guess but we can't verify your doctor, Carolyn Christiansen.' 'That's because his name is GREGORY! How could you mess up that bad?' She didn't know. If I can't get my MRI I'm removing a head from someone's shoulder.

I forgot to mention coming home last night that it didn't rain at all. So I turn off the highway onto the windy curvy shortcut with no edge lines and flooding issues. I'm not 500 yards into it and the sky lets go. I can't see. What I can see is the wind whipping so much sideways rain that it looks like I'm on the lake, cutting through wakes. The winds shook the shaky shake all night long.

And today I tore off half my thumb nail (I sealed it back down) on the podium in class. I tried to turn it into a teachable moment since blood clotting is on tomorrow's test (which should have been yesterday). they just stared blankly. Betting this will suck.

And just for fun baby elephants trying to learn to use their trunks.

and something I’d like to see the next time I’m in Pittsburgh

Definitely go see "Randyland" while it's there -- that's the coolest thing -- a while back a house down the block from Barb's mom was similar, all decorated with art and things and stuff and it was clearly something loved and cared for (even if it looked odd or "junky" from the street), with "HOME" in big letters on the roof....

and then someone must have passed away, because someone came and took it all away and made it a plain, boring house again, and sold it.

I'd hate to see that happen to "Randyland."

I think it's almost become an icon now (someone said it's on a botanical garden tour) but you're right, it would be so depressing if someone came in and listened to a realtor who said 'this will never sell like this.' I would go out of my way to buy something like this. That's too bad about the one near Barb's mom.

Aw, I liked that place! I remember The Mom thought it was trashy, but I thought it was folksy and eclectic. Oh, well.

Love the architecture! That would definitely be fun to see.

Owie on the thumbnail! Let's see...stuff I recall about blood clotting...fibrogen...hemophilia and clotting factor...Vitamin K?...alcohol is bad... That's about it.

Smack that doctor's assistant. Jeebus.

it's a pain to get to from where my parents are but worth it.

Not bad for something I remember from high school or thereabouts.

yeah and if I'm not misremembering that's been as long for you as for me. My students can't remember yesterday

I think it has been longer for me. (ahem ahem)

The difference is I was actually interested in learning. I sometimes think it would be nice to pick up some updated high-school science books to see what changes have been made. Good ones, that is, not the ones that yap about Creationism. I try to keep up with discoveries, but heck, I'm sure there's a lot they learn now that is new.

Randyland looks like tons of fun and color. I like that.

What is it with you and other medical people? How many times have they gotten it wrong, from prescriptions to EVERYTHING else?

it is colorful, I'll give you that. that neighborhood is very eclectic and fun (now, it was a scary-ass dive 30 years ago)

I think Holzer Hospital is run by chimps.

It's not just Holzer Hospital, though. You've had many misadventures with medical stuff.
