Well the long drive after dropping Mom off at the airport was apparently good for my muse. Got two vampire related drabbles and one long series of drabbles about the betrayals in Connor's life (ones done to him and ones he himself did). I thought it would be short and not sweet. Ten drabbles later, his life gets poked at thoroughly. It's under an umbrella title and each drabbles is more or less in chronological order. Enjoy and as alway all rights are Joss's and all are rated FRT (i.e. Pg-13)

Angelus/Darla Historical – Terrible Need

Angelus huddled in the loft of a barn, half hidden under hay. How could she do it? Yes, he and Darla had betrayed each other a time or two for some offense real or imagined but not like this, never like this.  He always had hopes of reconciliation and fiery lovemaking that inevitably followed.

This time he was utterly alone, afraid and confused; his soul burning him from the inside. Darla had driven him from her side forcibly and taken their family away in disgust. Only now did he realize how much he needed her, mother, lover, betrayer. Angelus wept.

Spike/Dru – Between S 2/S 3   - The Rose’s Thorn

He couldn’t bear to look in her beautiful eyes. Was she no longer his dark rose? Every time he so much as glanced at Drusilla, the sense of betrayal shone in her moon-pale face. Did she hate him now that he had betrayed Angel and left him to the Slayer? Spike began to fear it, feeling his undead heart shriveling at the thought.

He had underestimated how much his plum adored that prat. Didn’t she know how much it hurt him to see the love she squandered on Angel?  Spike felt betrayed but he would do anything to keep her.

A LIFE OF BETRAYALS

Betrayed – Gunn/Fred

He had never been betrayed before and he didn’t know how to handle it. How could two people purposely keep him occupied hoping a vampire, a monster, would go and kill his father while he was unable to protect him.

Steven raced along the street, thinking on Gunn and Fred’s betrayal of his innocent trust. He had only  been trying to honor Father’s wishes by going with these people and this is how they repaid him. The whole time they were showing him the town, they had been giving Angel time for revenge. If Father was dead, Steven would be lost.

Betrayed – Angel

Connor sat on the roof top waiting for his prey. The vampire’s last words as he and Justine welded him into his coffin and gave him what he deserved tended to echo through his brain in nights like this. Angel promised him he would regret what he had done but Connor knew Holtz was right. The vampire was the prince of lies.

Connor saw the demon Gunn hoped would give them a clue to find Angel. Connor killed it before his companions could even find it. Maybe he had betrayed his father but he was content to continue doing so.

Betrayed - Holtz

Sometimes he wondered if he thought on it for long would he go insane? What if Angel hadn’t lied to him and it was Justine who killed Holtz at his request to frame the vampire? Connor knew if that was true, Father had done so merely to incite him to kill his true father.

That would mean that Holtz’ love was a lie, or at least drastically imperfect. That would mean that Holtz’s revenge meant more to him than Connor did. Connor was nothing more than a tool to him. He wiped away tears, choosing to believe he hadn’t been betrayed.

Betrayed – Cordelia

He wished it were night so he could take his rage out on some vampires. Connor settled for glaring at the sun as he stalked away from his home. How could Cordelia do such a thing to him? She promised to love him. She promised him something real.

She was a liar, turning from him as day broke. He couldn’t abide lies. Didn’t she understand how she had betrayed him? Making love to someone, that was supposed to mean something. How could she do it if she thought it was a mistake. Connor ducked into an alley, weeping bitterly.

Betrayed – Wes

Connor refused to look at Gunn as he went home empty-handed. He had never hated Wesley before but tonight he just might. How dare the man bring in Faith to take over everything? He had taken his trust in Connor’s abilities and put them in the hands of someone who treated him like a child.

Maybe the others were right about Wesley when they said he was a betrayer for kidnapping him. Connor had always believed it was God’s will but he had lived in hell as a result. Wes had just betrayed him again. Maybe Angelus would eat them.

Betrayed – Angelus

As Cordelia drove him away from the cage, Connor glanced back at his true father, the thing behind cage bars. Connor didn’t know what to think. Did he feel betrayed by the terrible things Angelus had said to him? No, he truly didn’t. This was the father he had been told to expect. He finally felt vindicated.

Angel himself had been far more hurtful. He had needed Angel’s advice for the first time after Cordelia threw him aside and Angel rebuffed him. That was betrayal and nothing Angelus could say would be worse than that. Connor knew which father he preferred.

Betrayed – Darla

He couldn’t look at her pretty face. If he did, he’d give in to her. Tears burned hot down his face as he dragged the girl across the floor. Cordelia had to be right. This was the only thing to do and that Darla was hurtful magic cast by Angel.

Angelus told him why his mother had died. The sweet talking woman who made him feel so much love, touching him as Angel could not, wasn’t real.  But as the girl’s hot blood hit his face, Connor knew he had just betrayed the only person who had never betrayed him.

Betrayed – Jasmine

Connor sank to his knees in the church next to Cordy. He stared at his hand slicked with his daughter’s blood and brain matter. He was too numb to cry. All he wanted was to feel the perfect love Jasmine offered the others but that ended the moment Cordy’s blood had touched the wound on his chest.

He knew Jasmine was a lie, how she had betrayed the love he had wanted to give to her. Maybe he had betrayed her too but he would  pay. Even as he felt the threads of sanity severing, he knew this was the price.

Betrayed – Self

He had promised Father to cling to the good. He had promised Cordelia to love her.  He failed Angel, Darla and Jasmine. Connor had always considered himself a good man but in the end he betrayed everyone.

Through his tears, he watched Angel weep. God, help him, he believed the vampire loved him deeply but it was too late. It was time to go. Wolfram and Hart helped him subdue the people in the shop, set up bombs and smuggle Cordy in. That was his final betrayal. He knew this was a trap for Angel but he was too numb to care.

Betrayed – Finale

Connor hated himself for leaving Angel. This was harder than lying to him and pretending he didn’t remember his former life. Connor had only gone as far as the Reillys to get them out of town before turning back to help Angel and the others face down the demons Black Thorn sent against them.

Angel would be furious but if this was the last time he betrayed his father and did his own thing, Connor wouldn’t feel bad. This was the right thing to do. And if he died tonight, he’d do so gladly. Angel would finally know he loved him.
