1. My students and their inability to retain anything for 5 minutes.

2. The fact that it's 10 pm and EIGHTY frakking degrees in May

3. And most especially my new retainer for the TMJ issue. No lie, I've worn it for a week now and I've dreamed that my front teeth were knocked out. That the retainer was growing down my throat suffocating me. That when I went to get my tooth filled (now pushed back three weeks) that the dentist had to extract all my molars. That there was a tracking device in the retainer a killer was using to find me. Yeah, the brain does not like that painful piece of misery.

In the good news pile LOOK here! I have so much going on right now in the writing world, I feel like a real life author. I'm very excited about all of this. In fact, I got my edits for my Project Fierce story. Okay I'm less excited for those because editing sucks the big one (no matter how much better I know it will make the story). And my stuff is on sale (see that link). Thanks to all of you who are supporting me in this venture. You are so appreciated.

I even got started on the revamp of that story I posted here.

In the bad news, well let's just say I've been keeping mum about all the shit going on at work but it forced two good profs to take their retirement and today I learned one of my friends in nursing quit. This sucks. If I could, I'd probably do the same.

And in the news of the ludicrous. Remember my triple injury on my hand. Today I carried tests into the bathroom at work. I hit the door with them and papercut my entire arm. Sat down on the toilet and somehow slammed my wrist into the sanitary napkin disposal thingie and slit open my wrist. Go me.

I was prescibed a bite splint for my TMJ 15 or 20 years ago. This horrid sculpted acrylic piece of hell that I was to wear night and day to correct my bite because my teeth were pushing my jaw forward. Two things that made it especially hellish. 1) I'm allergic to acrylic. Not so much that I can't wear acrylic nails if I want, but having it in my mouth? Blistered the inside of my mouth constantly. 2) increased my pain exponentially. 3) decreased my ability to sleep. 4) was not necessary, as what was really needed was the removal of my wisdom teeth which were causing the majority of my shift and once they were gone, so was my pain except that caused by the bite splint 5) destroyed my teeth around the gumline where it rubbed constantly and killed the enamel. They will never be the same. I now have three broken teeth and many severely damaged that I can't afford the $10000 plus to repair, nor the $5000 or so for extraction and a decent denture, and god knows I can't afford implants which are now THE recommended replacement procedure.

Ugh.. In other words, I feel your pain. I hope you're not in that thing for life. I'd explore other options if they say you are.

I plan on exploring other options. She actually had me doing energy manipulations and chi work but I can't place my hands in the proper spot because the rotator tear has gotten more profound.

Unfortunately mine isn't from wisdom teeth. My jaw is aligned backwards. The back teeth are grinding and there is so much of a gap in the front I can pretty much get a straw between them without opening my mouth. It puts too much pressure on them. I'm glad you got yours under control because wow this is a bitch.

My alignment is the opposite. Well, my back teeth are still the problem, but they are pushing my lower jaw too far forward, so when I close completely my lower incisors have actually worn a groove in my upper incisors. My wisdom teeth though were doing it more and were also higher than the rest of my molars, so my jaw... I don't know exactly how to describe it... they acted like a fulcrum and pulled apart my jaw joint when I closed my teeth. The problem hasn't gone away completely. I still can't open my mouth more than about half an inch without dislocating my jaw on both sides. Getting dental work done is a nightmare because obviously he can't do any work unless I dislocate and hold it like that for however long. I've had the dentist have to help me put it back after keeping it that way for so long. Ugh. The articular disc was being pushed completely out of the joint on rotation, and the ligaments so stretched out of shape at the time he didn't know if they would ever recover. I don't know if they have or not. He said at the time that the disk was remaining significantly out of place even when my jaw was closed. It's better than it was pain wise but I don't know structurally how much it's improved. My doctor at one time indicated that my ear problems are probably related to the TMD issues. I'm sorry that you're experiencing what you are. Though the alignment causing it is different, I know the pain you're feeling. You might want to try a little heating pad for a few minutes when it's bad. That helps me a little. Advil helps more, but I am actively trying not to take so much, and I believe you have issues with NSAIDS anyway, don't you?

I can't take them at all thanks to how bad off my stomach is. They gave me muscle relaxers for when it gets really bad but that is not much of a solution. My ear aching and trigemnial neuralgia is how this is presenting and I'm so used to the job popping in and out of joint I barely notice that part any more (of course all my joints do that one)

Yeah this definitely sucks
