Not shaping up into a good Easter

The best news so far since I've been home is that if I let the student loans sue me, the judge will look at my serious lack on money and make a judgement against me for a lot less than I actually owe. So it's almost to my benefit to let this go forward (well not like I have a choice)

My brother was taken to the hospital yesterday. I've been telling him to go for a week as has his wife and my parents but he's not the brightest bulb some times. He has the flu + pneuomonia. They hung a bag of fluids and then sent him home with his wife who's a respiratory therapist.

And my mom's best friend, my 'aunt' is very likely to die soon. She has a massive tumor on her kidney 98% it's cancerous. Kidney cancers tend to spread slow. That's not the problem. THe problem is she has had a couple of bypasses for clogged heart arteries in the past and has done NOTHING the doctor has ever told her to do (seriously, after bypass surgery when the doctor gives you a list of things you can't eat and things you need to do, DO IT). Now her heart is so bad she's likely to die under the knife. Even if she survives, she can't have chemo because of the weakened heart and she'll be on dialysis because her remaining kidney can't compensate for the overflow of fluid caused by the bad heart. Makes me want to be even more serious about my own diabetic diet.

Sorry to hear about your mum's friend, yea, it's really frustrating when people don't do what the doctor tells them too, especially when the consequences are likly to be dire, and I hope your brother makes a complete recovery, as for the loans....ah well, at least if it's over, then it's over.

thanks. and yeah it really is frustating. It was so when I was a doctor too and I knew that I WOULD be amputation a limb if they didn't listen to me and told them so and they'd always act surprised when I had to do the amputation.

That's so frustrating I have an aunt who's in the same position with her diabetes. She doesn't take care of it and her health is suffering badly. I'll keep her, your brother and your mom in my thoughts.

The loans...meh, but at the very least it'll be dealt with.

And yes you need to be even more serious about your diabetic diet *mom tone of voice* Okay mom time over.

So you know what I mean. I hate to feel angry at her but I do because much of her current problems she caused herself. Not the cancer of course, but all the difficulties around it.

That's my attitude toward the loans. I'd rather have it done with.

I do try to be serious about the diet. It's a very sucky diet to be on.

I do the same thing. I'm so anal about my responsibilities and such that I never even realize how sick I am until my body knocks me flat on my ass.

Oh so do I but I'm getting better at it because now that I'm diabetic I know how bad bad will get if I'm not more careful. That said I've had a migraine for three days and have yet to take my medicine.

more like a dull nagging pain behind the eyes. No where near as bad as it could be and my stomach is so messed up that the less medication to irritate it the better.

Hate, that, when the muse is whispering sweet somethings into your ear and you have to work on something else! Sometime I reward myself by taking a break every half hour or so and writing a little. As longs as the writing doesn't suck me in, I'm OK.

Of course, you could be me today, trying to force the muse to speak 'cause yesterday I procrastinated with Spring cleaning and tomorrow I'm supposed to go ogle elephant seals.

Should be fun and relaxing, if the weather's all right. They won't let you bring umbrellas because they're "too dangerous" or some crap like that.

My friend and I were going to hit the Santa Cruz bookstores afterwards, but then I remembered...tomorrow is Easter!

I was raised Christian. On the evening before Easter, we'd boil the eggs and color them. Then on Easter morning, we'd look for our Easter baskets from the Easter Bunny. Then we'd go to church for the Sunrise service, which I always liked, because it was in the early morning and less people were there and it was outside (hey, it was Southern California). Then everyone would have a big ol' breakfast in the Fellowship Hall of homemade cinnamon rolls and fruit and coffee.

Then I'd be on a sugar high the rest of the day. ; )

Our extended family lived too far away, but there were a ton of old widows in our congregation who could cook like nobody's business, which is more than I can say for my mom. ; )

Thanks. I'll be okay. I'm sort of more mad than sad. After the first stent placements, my aunt refused to make a life change. less than two years later she was back getting 4 put in. Still no changes and now she's likely to pay the ultimate price for that.
