My day was made
Oct. 14th, 2014 11:23 pmBy something unexpected. I got home to find a) my PITA neighbors had gathered up all my tombstones and put them back on my porch after the wind storm and b) undisturbed by the wind storm and pouring rain was a package in a garbage bag to protect it (a huge change from their usual let's jam it in the box no matter what approach).
I thought it was a book since I'm expecting some from Goodreads wins. I looked and thought, awfully long and thin for a book. DId I win another graphic novel? Hmm Poland??? Well I did just win a Finnish graphic novel so why not?
No, instead it was a BEAUTIFUL illustration of Roy and Riza dancing in 1920s clothing. Two in fact, same one large and small sent to me by the highly talented
dzioo! THANK YOU so much. I almost cried. Of course I didn't put two and two together. I knew
evil_little_dog had bought me a birthday gift I hadn't received yet and she DID tell me it was from Europe but I'm turning into Dorrie the fish so it took me about five hours to figure out she was the one who had commissioned it (even though Dzioo told me ELD had an electronic copy). THANK YOU too for my wonderful birthday gift.
talking here about cursed work and I have my nano 2014 cover up there as well. thanks again to
anat_astarte for that title. It's my vampires in Vegas.
Did I mention that disconnecting my battery blitzkrieged my radio? It's an anti-theft deterrent. If someone pulls it out it's useless but man the hoops I have to jump through.
Bought a 6-pack of Sam Adam's Octoberfest beer. Blech. I usually like their stuff but not this. Anyone got any good cooking with beer recipes?
declutter day 277 item tossed -Kimono shirt why kept-Loved this shirt why tossed -It’s getting old and faded. Time to move it out for the new stuff

Date: 2014-10-15 04:20 am (UTC)Yay for your tombstones being gathered up by people you didn't expect any sort of favors from! And artwork from Dzioo? Even better. I love her stuff.
I was really surprised that my presets weren't ruined by the battery change. A lot of places have a machine now that will keep your radio powered now when they change the battery, so I guess since I had mine done by National Tire and Battery they must have had the machine because while it list the station I was on, when I went to reset them, as soon as I stated pushing buttons I realized that all my posts were still programed. Yay for me.
I usually like Samuel Adams, but I didn't like their October fest either.

It wasn't just the presets. It thinks my battery was 'stolen' because power was cut to it so I had to get a bunch of stuff (vin #, serial #s etc) and yeah there is that device but obviously advanced auto didn't have it.
same here. I normally love Sam Adams but this stuff blows

Date: 2014-10-25 06:20 am (UTC)I usually get a box of their fall offerings because I love that chocolate stout and they don't offer it by itself sadly. So I end up having to muck my way through beers that I don't necessarily like very much. Sometimes I give some of them away. I mostly like the stuff that comes out of their brewery, though.

Date: 2014-10-15 04:25 am (UTC)Say, have you tried to Angry Orchard seasonal "Cinnful" Apple cider? It's REALLY good. (And I'm not usually big on Angry Orchard.) Just discovered Redd's Apple Ale, also good (more cider than ale, really, but tasty).

Date: 2014-10-15 04:30 am (UTC)No. I do like angry orchard but any more cider and now beer is making me flush and feel like ants are on me and it's happening to my brother too. I wonder if there is a new additive because neither of us are new to alcohol

Date: 2014-10-15 04:50 am (UTC)I like that stuff, but I like Strongbow better. I had some tonight as a matter of fact. yummy!

Date: 2014-10-16 06:03 am (UTC)I usually just drink Guinness at the pub, so I hadn't tried Strongbow until recently. It's really nice.

Date: 2014-10-17 02:13 pm (UTC)Oh yeah. I kind of remember that cider upsurgence thing in the 90s. I guess what we have now is a re-upsurgence? But many more choices. Angry Orchard gains Lol from me just for the name.

Date: 2014-10-15 08:27 pm (UTC)My mom had a problem like that with the radio in her Honda when she had the battery changed too. ("Input code? What code?!" I remember hearing her say...)

Date: 2014-10-16 04:49 am (UTC)Yeah those neighbors have been warned so they're being nicer now.
yeah it's common with newer cars. The idea is that car thieves would know that unless they sat down and got all these numbers at the time of theft the radio would be useless

Date: 2014-10-16 06:24 pm (UTC)Speaking of Halloween, I hope the book and spooky labels didn't get wet. I didn't know when I mailed them that you were going to have a deluge and tornadoes. The bubble wrap should have provided some protection if the box got wet, but now I'm thinking I should have plastic-bagged the book inside the bubble wrap.

Date: 2014-10-16 07:22 pm (UTC)Ugh, I guess my email went astray. Yes. I got the box and the labels. they are fine. I got them last week (it was still raining mind you) thank you so much

Date: 2014-10-17 07:01 pm (UTC)Me too. Don't worry about it being late. It would have gotten swept under all the surgery stuff if I had gotten it in June and I know how blue moods go, trust me. It's lovely. Mind if I share it?
