Spent 2 1/2 hours in urgent care

So either I have a chip fracture in my left elbow or that's an ossicle (a normal but randomly occurring round bone in a tendon) and I squashed it when I fell a few weeks ago. Urgent Care doc didn't feel up to making a diagnosis. Treatment = take it easy. I'm already doing that. She, if I'm being kind, was overworked and tired, but really she seemed awfully dim. So I guess they're going to get a radiologist to look at it. We'll see. I should probably put a pillow on the arm of the chair to cushion it.

Kim Fielding is on my blog today here with a ton of stories including a self-pub that has its royalties going to doctors without borders (and last year she raised 3 grand. That's stunning). I love her work and there are giveaways. I love that tote.

It's been that sort of day. My cousin had a hip replacement today and my brother had to have a tooth cut out. Fun times.

I learned I put 2 #15s and 2 #51s on one examine. Head desk. And my nursing students...even one of the nursing instructors said she fears these guys. That is how bad they are. The Veterans were complaining about this yesterday too. the new students the 17-20 y.o. group just don't know how to study, work etc. It frustrates me. It frustrates the military students because they're used to discipline and a lifestyle where this sort of half assed behavior gets people dead.

I ask you this, if you had someone on FB who is friends with all the other authors/readers are your list who keeps tagging about 80 people every morning with a coffee picture (so yes then you get EVERY response) and have asked her twice privately to stop including you, would you go ahead and remove her in spite of all the in-common friends because my internet can't handle the load and I've told her this twice.

we haven't been on facebook in a while, but I think there might be a way to stop people from being able to tag you - and there is a way to turn off notifications if they do.

holy crap on the batman ride! that looks horrifying and very dangerous - I would probably just settle for the Tshirt: "I was too chicken-shit to ride the ride, so I got the shirt instead"

thanks I'll look at taht. I don't want to be rude but then again SHE is being rude by doing this. I almost never have issues on FB since my friends aren't a bunch of infants but this is my professional page where friend is a loose word indeed.

I'd love to ride that coaster.  It looks like a blast,  but I too would not be able to.  I can ride traditional coasters all day.  I rode The Bat over and over and over before they closed it.  That coaster was suspended and on curves swing you up in the air at well over 90° (like 135° or more). I was fine on that one, because it came back down the same way.  My inner ear/brain connection was ok with that.  flip me all the way over though and I can't recover from it so easily.  bleh.

That Geico commercial was awesome.  Even more amusing was that for me, the commercial that played before the video was the same commercial!  lol

I hate to say this (and maybe it is because I've dealt a lot with Doctors, Nurses and Vets) but my experience with Urgent care doctors has been... poor.

I know that they are over worked and everything - but if someone comes into the ED taking an rx that could be for pain or seizure disorder don't you ask why they are taking it before you put seizure in the medical record?

And yeah I think I would defriend them or can you block people on face book?

Hey I'm a doctor and I'll say it, I'm not sure where urgent care gets some of their crap doctors. Often the answer is they're newbies just starting out and they're good at diagnosing colds and bronchitis and not much else.

Oh and it's rampant, look at the meds and write the diagnosis in the chart without asking (mostly because half the people on meds don't know why. You would be stunned by that.)

I might look to see if I can prevent her tagging me because omg today there were 71 emails 60 were from that. and it's every. day. I don't get why more people aren't annoyed.

Yeah and my ED visits are always "I fell down the stairs on my head" or "I got rammed by a sheep and spent a few weeks getting better but now my whole arm is swollen" so I doubt I am the easiest patent.

But I always try to go to my home hospital so they can flipping pull up my records *sigh*

There has to be a way to stop the e-mails even if you can't stop her from tagging you. That is crazy out of control, she must spend all day tagging things on facebook

yeah my visits often go like that and I did go to my usual place but the doc there is new...and unimpressive.

she only tags one actually but she tags EVERYONE who then say hello to her.

If I'd asked someone to stop tagging me in FB posts and they didn't, I'd probably drop them. She's obviously acting on auto-pilot and ignoring what her "friends" want.

Ugh to the Urgent Care doc. I've had good experiences there and mediocre experiences (one of my docs told me to take way too many of my medications once, and I was out of it for a few days from that).

I was reading a great article about how we're raising kids who don't know how to read or write or do much of any type of school work, which is pretty frightening. And the author said, "Do you want the U.S. to slide into oblivion? Keep doing this."

yes that's exactly what is going to happen and not just america. I'm seeing these complaints coming from almost all first world countries with maybe the exception of Japan. They have their own version of teen craziness going on
