I'm an internet addict. I have trouble turning it off. I scroll aimlessly around. Today i had 4 internet free hours while my students took their test. I wrote FIVE THOUSAND words and that was with their constant interupptions. I need to figure out how to balance net with everything else.

Look who dropped into work for Halloween




She's a cutie. We keep getting bats because they won't fix the roof. We relocated her.

Speaking of work, I got my grant. Dances. Feels like a real prof.

And bats leads me to the idea that it is Vampire Awareness day (no seriously) and it is also National Cat Day. Have a fat furball.



And speaking of fat, I am not vain but I DO loathe that horrible double chin (which always looks red and irritated)

After spending 2 hours NOT grading exams trying to figure out how to turn my face into a clockwork doll, I remember I have a doctor's appointment right after lab with no time to change. Pouts. (I can't wear metallic make up into the imaging machine)



Okay I thought they totally missed the boat with not doing another Halloween one. These guys are made for it. That aside, tonight was more painful than funny. I don't get why they didn't see that Doctor's behavior as dangerous. Is it just because he has cool geek stuff? And he racked up about 100K worth of HIPPA violations in that half hour. Yeah yeah I know it's fiction but still, we're paying million dollar salaries. That episode cost nearly 5 mill and wasn't funny. sigh.

Have you tried any internet blocking extensions for your browser? I've heard a few from Tumblr whenever exam time comes, but I don't remember the sites now. I'll see about trying to find them when I get the chance.

There's also the program Q10 (http://www.baara.com/q10/). It's a full screen writing program that's similar to MS Word but without a lot of the MS Word stuff. One cool thing is each time you type it sounds like a typewriter, haha. Another program I like is Zen Writer (http://beenokle.com/zenwriter.html), but apparently this time you have to pay as I'm not sure how long the trail version will be. I can also try to find more free programs similar to Q10,

I've heard of them but I have a much simpler solution, self control. Or failing that use my netbook. It can't get the internet (and generally that is what I do. That's what I did today) I have enough issues with my net actually working I probably don't need to block it. Thanks though

Pretty much. I;m big on self control. I have to control so many other aspects of my life, I'm not sure why this one is a problem (other than I live in the middle of nowhere. It wasn't a problem til I moved here)

It's a tiny one but it makes me feel like someone cares what I do on campus.

She's adorable. Yes, DA is something of a bat expert and he keeps relocating them and yes it's cold and rainy so they would much prefer to be in our warm building.
