It was a good job. Kanda turned into a mind reader again. He was fine all morning. He sat at my feet as I washed dishes and when I shut the water off and was ready to box him, he slunk off and cried and cried. I'm like dude I didn't even make a move yet.

got some plot thinking done for two stories on the journey but not as much as one would expect.

I was thinking about this song for a while

I've been talking to friends about how it seems it's really getting bad for women out there and she mentioned it always has been. True enough but to me it seems worse now than it was 10 years ago. Apparently I'm not the only one seeing that.

And oddly enough just before seeing this I had stumbled over this Toby Keith song which rather fits where I live in some ways but I was rather appalled that the girl in it is not merely a sexual object but is actually being held hostage by two young boys who got her top. I wasn't too put off by the boys sneaking peeks. We all do it but the rest of it was wow. Now, I do often like Toby's songs but I don't think much of him as a person. (highly conservative and likes to turn award shows into his political stumping grounds).

So I'm off to give the back a rest and see if I can write down at least one or two of the nano plot points. I'm running out of time for the last 18K

ETA - Holy hell, on my browsers back home my blog looks like Times New Roman 12 pt. On dad's it looks like HUGE and definitely some other font. It's like a 7 year old wrote it.

ahaha, that first video ... I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention 'til the guys showed up and then I just cracked up. All the slow-motion sunset-light shots! Yeah. XD

And yeah, the second one -- I think it's also interesting that the girl spraying herself with the hose and getting her top stolen is literally the ONLY woman in the video 'til the montage at the end ... well, I guess there's also the woman hanging up laundry on the line, who's in it only briefly and isn't featured at all, compared to all the guys who are presented as the "normal" face of the trailer park. And yeah, the video is played for laughs and everyone in it is ridiculous anyway, but .,, seriously?

I've heard the song many times lately but this was the first time I played the video and yeah the guys being sexualized in the clothing oft sung about in Country songs was killing me.

Yes, I noticed that too. We have the hapless old laundry woman and Mz let me spray myself are the only women like all we're good for is sex appeal and doing their laundry. I do think it was all played for laughs but there seems to be a blurring of lines

I hate Toby Keith with a white hot passion, so I'm not going to make myself crazy by playing the video (that said, I do still like "Shoulda Been A Cowboy" -- that shoulda been the last song he ever recorded).

But I do like "Girl in a Country Song." I watched it thinking that girls in country have gone from being Goddesses and Queens (witness Patsy, Loretta, Tammy, etc.) to being objects, and little else. Somewhere, and I tend to pinpoint it right about the time Minnie Pearl died, men in country forgot the "gentleman" part of "Southern Gentleman."

Hence my preference for Austin country and Ameripolitan.

don't because even though the song has little to do with women being sexual objects that's pretty much what the video is about.

I do like this song and you would know better than I about the rest. I believe you. I wonder what old timers like Reba and Dolly think about this rather disturbing trend. I really DO think it has gotten much worse in the last decade

Conservative political wins and SCOTUS prigs are abettors in putting down everyone's rights - including womens'.

Nothing TK does against women surprises me; remember the brou-haha he created with the Dixie Chicks?

Yep I do, that's when I pretty much stopped going to any concert he was a part of

I'll have to look at the videos when I'm not getting ready for work, so when you respond, I'll look.

I agree, I think there's a lot of badness out there regarding women, and yes, it's gotten worse. It feels like we're rolling backward rather than moving forward, which is a pretty scary thing.

country songs like that are the main reason I loathe country music. at least he knows his fan base (the same one that wanted to kill the dixie chicks, I'm sure)

He was the one leading the charge against them yes. Not all country music is like this. A good majority isn't but that is somehow fading
