Got to stop in Athens with my writers group for the last day of nano. Ate some yummy over priced cheese sticks.

Mom said Kanda is looking for me. If I didn't mention it, I left Kanda with the parents. I'm only back for 2 weeks. I thought it would be less stressful if I left him there. He enjoys their house. So some good vibes that he'll behave himself is appreciated.

I guess my writerly ways today could be called epiphany in a bad way. Hee. I just had the realization that Luc and Arrigo have NO hobbies, no outside interests. So blah on me. Luc used to like to fish and hunt but I'm not sure what he does in Vegas. He likes dancing. I can at least see him not having too many interests. He works too hard and is too poor for much.

Arrigo on the other hand has no excuses. He also likes dancing...ballroom dancing. Thanks for that Arrigo. So anyone want to offer up hobbies a 2000 year old vampire might have indulged in along the way?

And Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] geeky_ramblings Hope you had a great day.

Two thousand years? That would be a lot of hobbies!

Yeah, poverty is death on most hobbies. Just the gasoline (or bus ticket) to get to a free event can be too much to afford. What is he like? Creative? Scientific? Artsy? A gourmand on the cheap (if your vamps can eat food)? Does he scrape up enough money to stream indie films on Netflix?

Aw, Kanda wuvs oo. (good vibes that he will behave)

Yes it would be.

Opps my bad, Luc is poor.

Arrigo, the vampire is a billionaire at this point. He has all the money he can want and yes he can eat food.

kanda will miss me. I'm just hoping he isn't unraveling the carpet (he loves to do that)

and Kanda will be fine (that was a good idea since you'll be going right back). No worries. Your mom is going to spoil him rotten

Probably up at hoover dam. thanks

Kanda is probably being a brat, blissfully unaware he's so fat we can make him into a vest and are likely to if he's bad

Glad you made it back. Hopefully Kanda adjusts to your absence, just not too much.

Reading, collecting (anything - classic cars, wine, stamps, coins, books), gambling (suitable for a Vegas hobby), watching movies, studying trivia, picking up a new degree every so often... (okay, some of those are Sean Patrick's hobbies, and he's only been around 150 years...)

I do have reading covered and he has mentioned poker. He has a vintage harley so yes, I suppose he could collect vintage autos.

thanks

Chess and gardening are classic hobbies pursued by wealthy men throughout human history. Astronomy, collecting antiquities, dabbling in chemistry and alchemy, collecting and producing artworks, riding and breeding horses or other livestock, land conservation and being an amateur naturalist, or photography would all be natural hobbies for a very old gent. Perhaps he loves music and has learned (from the composers themselves, perhaps) a huge repertoire of musical pieces that hundreds of years of practice allow him to play flawlessly. A lot of what hobbies he would pursue depends on how encumbered he wants to be. Chess and astronomy are pretty portable, gardening and horse-breeding much less so.

Thank you. You know astronomy would be a good one for an old Roman and he's informed me he likes science so chemistry/alchemy would be a good one. I'd make him into an artist is that hadn't been done several times before.

Just remember that Saint-Germaine is an alchemist, and that plays heavily into his stories.

But I like the rest of them.

So true. I nearly forgot that. And Lestat is a musician and Angel an artist....

S-G was also a composer, but that's in as much history as anything (as, of course, is the alchemy).
