The Somogyi effect

This refers to a bout of hypoglycemia followed by a rebound hyperglycemia and it sums up my WHOLE day. I went to bed just before 2 and at 2:30 I started getting nauseous. I thought what's this about since it was way after dinner. It was followed by shaking and diphoresis (massive bout of sweating). I took my sugar. 55. That's very low, dangerously so. I'm out of sugar pills. Not to fear, I stagger to the kitchen and load up a plate of cookies and some salami for protein and sit at the computer until 3 AM until I was no longer shaky. I'm coverd in sweat and pretty well sick of cookie.

This morning my sugar was over 300 and I was so dizzy I could hardly stand. When my sugar does this bounce shit, I'm worthless. I literally did nothing but lie on the couch watching Harry Potter and Indiana Jones and trying to write a little and I still feel like I ran a marathon.

I only roused myself to bake a pie for tomorrow and wash clothes.
