Okay Wednesdays are going to suck

Now I've always had 4 back to back hours of lab with a class after BUT it used to be 8:30-12:20 with a 10 minute break between labs then a 50 minute class. Now it's 8-12 NO break between labs (thanks for nothing) and then a freaking 2/12 hour break before a 90 min class. That is exhausting.

I did that, came home and packed. Wish for no snow for me because it started snowing. Really I made a mistake. I thought it would be better for me to teach today and go home tomorrow morning (the viewing is from 2-8) and the funeral is friday. Honestly, I should have skipped the afternoon class but administration is being dickish.You should COVER your class and not just skip it. Fair enough. Explain to me how we can possible do this? Not everyone can teach what I do and there are only FOUR slots a day now for classes which means we're all working all the time. So even if I could find a qualified person how the hell can s/he do it since they have their own classes? You're lucky I conned one of them into my 8 AM friday lab.

There IS good news though. It looks like my rewrite of my research summary has been accepted for presentation. Thank you evil_little_dog for the help.

It does. You weren't online for the whole 'our former president pulled the pin on a grenade, tossed it and ran.' She put us on a 4 day a week block schedule without talking to ANYONE but a couple cherry picked profs. It works great if you're a 3 credit hour class like business or english but NOT if you're science, computer science, math and allied health whose classes are 4-5 credit hours with labs. I personally told her that this wasn't going to work because we have to work clinicals around hospitals not the other way around. SHe assured me I was wrong (I wasn't).

We can only have labs at 8 in the morning or 4 in the afternoon (we did wiggle out of that some) you know when our very NON-traditional student body has to get the kids off to school or pick them up 'and if they were serious they'd find a way to do this' completely ignoring the fact there is no money here and just how could these single parents (often) managed this.

Even worse, what no one anticipated because NO ONE asked the sports guys, is that our athletes can't eat because practice is pushed back because of these late afternoon classes and the cafeteria closes and we don't have the money to pay workers longer so now these poor students are practicing from 6-8AM and 8-11PM (not to mention the poor coaches)

And the former president's reward for this? She got promoted to being in Ohio's board of reagents (the governing body for schools). Our new president and new provost won't just remove this. We had to have a committee to decide it and they put a brand new prof in charge of that because she's 'unbiased'. Instead she's pissed off the entire faculty more or less and we're supposed to have a schedule done for next fall in 2 weeks. We said stuff it. We can't DO that unless we know what schedule we're doing.

Yeah this is a nightmare I can't wake up from. I tried. There are so few faculty jobs any more...

Aren't you glad you missed all that.

And yeah at least the research might go somewhere

That was my guess to be honest. We're out of money. No shit, we're a tiny college (just about 2000 students) trying to pay nearly half a million dollars for the president's salary

That salary is obscene. In 2009, the president of MICA (Zachary's school), one of the best art schools in the country made 310,000. A tiny school should not be paying that amount.

Yeah she was just over 400K and it's insane. The board wanted her bad so paid that salary. Tuition is so high because of coaches and presidents. It sure as hell isn't faculty
