[livejournal.com profile] vampedvixen tossed this at me so I figured why not.

01) Total volume of music files on my computer?
Um, none unless you count the music videos. I’m not into downloading and otherwise taking stuff offline unless I buy it which I don’t.

02) The last CD I bought was... Seventeen Days  - Three Doors Down

03a) The last song I listened to before writing this was... Hell Yeah - Montgomery Gentry

03b) Song playing right now:  Love is a battle field  - Pat Benatar

04) Five albums I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me.
Okay this is next to impossible to answer. There’s so many and for so many different reasons. Some speak to me personally. Others are excellent for writing.

1) Tchaikovsky’s  Swan Lake  - Because once I was in love with a ballet dancer. I met him at a charity benefit where he danced Prince Siegfried’s role

2) Indigenous Circle - Because I think it’s their finest cd. I remember them from their days playing in South Dakota and their success has thrilled me

3) Any 80's compliation disc - because it takes me back to high school and college and at least in college I was a very happy person

4) The Rocky Horror Picture Show - Playing it just makes me smile even if I’m blue

5) Linkin Park - Meteora - Okay really this isn’t my usual kind of music, not by a long shot. But I do love this cd. It’s perfect for channeling Connor (and my own original angry moppet characters) Is there a song on here with prehaps one exception that doesn’t work for him?

.
05) Which 5 people are you passing this baton to, & why?

1 ) [livejournal.com profile] a2zmom  - because she has an amazing music collection

2) [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog  - because her tastes are as freaky as my own

3) [livejournal.com profile] druinsanity  - because I want to know what someone with a degree in music listens to

4)  [livejournal.com profile] riven142  - because I have no idea what she would listen to

5) [livejournal.com profile] mzzgoddessblue  - because I think we're probably scarily alike

and if [livejournal.com profile] bashipforever and [livejournal.com profile] chelle86  or hell anyone on my flist wants to do it, feel free. I'm curious.

I'm very eclectic musically. I think that's why fusion stuff doesn't bug me, like country rock.

01) Total volume of music files on my computer?
I dunno, really. Wait! [looks it up] 200 megs.

02) The last CD I bought was... Miles Davis, Poetics of Sound

03a) The last song I listened to before writing this was... G. Love, Booty Call. Yep, you heard right people. The man wrote a song called Booty Call. Penguin Boy's awfully fond of it, to be sure. [snicker]

03b) Song playing right now: Toots & the Maytals (with Gwen Stefani) - Monkey Man. Well, as soon as Penguin Boy heads off to work and I'm alone.

04) Five albums I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me.

a) Peter Gabriel: Us. This is probably the most important album I own. Over 10 years of listening to it, and it still has the power to show me new things, help me revel in lost causes, and find the magic, secret hiding places I've been ignoring in myself.

b) Tom Waits: Blood Money. Kinda dark, but optimistic in a weird way. Best for moody days, or those odd moods when nothing else will do.

c) Stellastarr*: Stellastarr*. They remind me of New York, and have the knack of making a song sound happy when really it's not.

d) Zap Mama: Adventures in Afropea 1. Female vocal group with no instruments, ranging in backgrounds over Europe and Africa. Even when it's in another language, I sing loudly and feel closer to the grand earth-mother, free-spirit ideal. :)

e) Cannonball Adderly: The Capitol Years. I lost this one ages ago, but I loved the style and energy of it. I picked it up randomly after reading a lot of Beat novels, and promptly fell in love with jazz.

... I love music. Mostly I listen to mixes due to the wide range my tastes cover. So there's stuff all over the place.

I don't know Zap Mama or Stellarstar.

However I have a few things by Cannonball, all of it back in PA at the moment but I have it.
