I am Left Shark

a2zmom last night, i went dancing often. I just never said I was any good. I am Left Shark. I'm flailing about completely off rhythm with no clue what the choreography is. I'm slapping myself in the face with my flippers.
I've danced my whole life, even in my unpopular days in high school, I was there. I danced on bar tops at frat houses in colleges. I danced through the cemeteries in the rain. I danced in musicals. I went to night clubs as often as I could in med. school and if I wasn't in the Flats I was with my friends at merengue dance halls. In NY and SD I went Cajun and Country dancing. I've danced at pow wows with lovers. During my time practicing medicine, the dancing moved to water aerobics classes. My dancing didn't really stop until I got injured and went to Florida. Now I just dance in the apartment until this year when I went to the Steampunk ball. I almost danced a few steps.
But I have never danced well. Everyone else in the aerobics class were right shark. They had the moves down. I'm in my own little world dancing my little heart out...completely out of synch. I know I am. I can SEE I am but damn it, I'm dancing. I'm so bad I can't even remember my PT moves without looking them up every time...for six months. You'd think I'd know them...not me. Not Left Shark. Left Shark fights on.
So I saw the orthopedic surgeon. I knew this might go sideways when the nurse gives me PAPER shorts. You know why didn't they just say, 'hey bring shorts.' No, they give me paper ones made from the same paper surgical shoe covers are made from. One size fits all. Bwahahaha. SO I'm sitting there being cut in half by fucking paper shorts but he doesn't leave me waiting long. 'how are you?' Thirty pounds too fat for your shorts, that's how I am. He laughed. 'Can you believe people STEAL these things from us?' Doc, I don't even want to know why.
He looked at my x-rays and played with my hip. He said the arthritis wasn't bad (huzzah!). He had me roll onto my unaffected hip and pressed right above the great trochanter. Holy hell, I thought he jabbed me with a big-ass needle. Nope, that's just him finding the trochanteric bursa which apparently is swollen and pissing. THEN he gets the big-ass needle and shoots it up with steroids. Half way home my body showed it's talent at metabolizing novacaine very fast. BOY does my hip and ass hurt. It'll be fine tomorrow but right now, hell no. I start PT on the 13th. Whee fun. At least no surgery so yay for me.
My writing goal for this week- finish revamping ch 3 of Blood Red Roulette and start ch 4, write Taabu's scene for it, rewrite the lost scene from Beneath the Torn Sky.
Music Monday - It continues the whole pagan/filk/renn theme. I really enjoy S.J. Tucker's music. I think she has a nice range and sings about things that interest me. Honestly, I think if she's anything like her music, I'd enjoy sitting down and talking to her.
Ravens in the Library of course puts me in mind of the Poe poem.
Another literary one by Ms. Tucker is Cheshire Kitten. It was the first song I had heard by her and I definitely related to it.
Speaking of filk there is this for a series of short stories. I've not read these (but am curious to find them). Not all the songs on this one is melodic, if I'm honest about it. Kash-Kash interests me because of its dark content.
Blessings is one of my favorite albums by Ms. Tucker. In Name of the Dance is very catchy
Last week I shared Hymn to Herne by the transgendered singer Alexander Adams but it was actually written by SJ Tucker and here is her eroticized version. I love it.
But one of my favorites by her is Playing D&D because this IS me and my friends right here.
I’m glad he got help this could have been a very tragic story.
