After a week of trying a) the astigmatic contact in my right and b) the correct RX in my left eye we decided it was in my best interest to toss them both. Yes my astigmatism has gotten worse but the astigmatic contacts in addition to being irritating as holy hell are over correcting and I was having extremely poor vision in my right eye (which might have contributed to all the dizzy spells this week). And while it was nice to be able to read the subtitles in Grimm & Sleepy Hollow and see the channel guide from the couch, I decided I do FAR more close work than I do distance. I couldn't read my notes at work and cheap reading glasses give me headaches and make me dizzy if worn for more than a few minutes (Have I mentioned my vision/eyes are SUPER sensitive? I can tell tiny changes and shock every eye doc I've ever had). So until my close vision gets so bad I'm forced into buying good reading glasses this will have to do and if I'm going anywhere I need to read unfamiliar road signs I can wear my glasses.

I tried a new lab today, sense lab, smelling stuff. It worked pretty well. The students enjoyed it except one which we all agreed was an astringent cleaning fluid but was supposed to be 'roses.' Yeah, right. For some reason though the printed lab work sheets for the students had answers on them. Um....I didn't see that so next time I'll have to make different copies. Publishing fail!

OMG does ANYONE know an easy way to do a search on Windows 8. The standard search that comes with it can do 'everywhere' (which why do I need it to go on the net? That's what Google is for) or 'files'. I can't even make it go to a flash drive that way (You can if you go via the window explorer thing) but no option lets you search by 'word or phrase' in the document. It only lets you do file name. Like I remember that. I'm still trying to find lost files. This is so annoying. I found a few things online and they didn't work. Bite me Microsoft. I put it on my netbook but that only helps if it's on my flash.

Back to Vegas and making these damn vampires do something.

Yes! Granted, I only had hard contacts, but my eyes couldn't even tolerate the gentle tears drops. By the way, I had my eye exam today. You know your eyes are bad when the ophthalmologist pats you on the had and says, out of the blue, "You don't have to worry about going blind later in life." Good to know. Also when I joked that the eye exam could be more difficult, he could be testing my sister, who has amblyopia, he did a double take and said, "You have amblyopia. Didn't you know?"

I think there's a search app out there that mimics the way the old search engine worked. I have Windows 10. It insists on running a search on file names, and then gives me an option to check inside the files. :/

It's Vegas, baby. Have them blow off some steam and get in trouble.

Oh geez.

Windows 8 doesn't seem to have that option. If I KNEW the file name I probably wouldn't need to do a search.

Yeah I could do that but they don't want to do it. Damn vampires

So what are they going to do, stay indoors and watch the porn channel? Okay, trouble comes to them or their neighborhood an interrupts their plans.

I'm sorry the contacts aren't going to work out for you.

thanks. well it's no big deal. It's just annoying a bit when subtitles are on the tv with my usual pair. I'm at that age. Soon enough I'll need readers permanently. I just wish women's dress pants came with pockets more often so I could carry the darned readers

I can't read most subtitles on the TV unless I'm sitting right in front of it. Maybe my new glasses will help.

That whole vision thing is a pain. I'm not astigmatic, so I just keep my distance glasses in the car and I have progressives for read/computer work.

and for me it could be several more years before I need readers as a side effect of being severely myopic
