To all the mothers out there, Happy Mother's Day



So many people I know (including my own Mom) are going through their first mother's day without their moms and I am sad for them.

I'm sadder still that there is such a backlash this year against Mother's day. Why do we never see this about father's day? No one cares about childless men? Let me just say this as a childless older woman, I DO NOT feel Mother's Day is a slam against me or designed to make me feel like a failure. I have no idea why taking a solitary day to honor one group chaps your ass and is only there to make you feel picked on and an outcast but maybe it's time to realize not everything is about you.

I have no children and I'm still happy to honor the mothers out there. It's really not too much to ask.

(and yes I know my 'music' is a tad ironic...)

I don't get the backlash either. It really makes no sense. Not every childless woman decided to make that choice; sometimes biology decides for you & that just makes that pain all the more harder to bear. *sighs*

I don't either. At least the pain of constant miscarriages or infertility I can understand.

her dad was in my writers group by mail for years. I've known him since the 90s but sadly I don't hear much from him nowadays.
