Mom asked 'are you sure you can move that old TV of yours?' Sure Mom. Okay that Tv was about a thousand pounds heavier than I remembered it. I mean dear God were cathode ray TVs ALWAYS that heavy. I almost ended my San Antonio trip real quick when I dropped the thing (and destroyed its hook up in the process) and it nearly took out my foot. I rolled it into a corner because I can't lift it anywhere.

And UPS is made up of fuck ups. This asshole threw the new Tv on my porch and ran. I mean he was in the van and leaving by the time I got to the door. Yeah several hundred dollars worth of stuff and he doesn't bother to get a signature (which he was supposed to do). The box is wrecked AND there are three scratches on the TV. I'm livid (especially since I won't be here to fix it).

It takes me all day. The thing doesn't have a center foot rest. It has them on either side of it so it doesn't fit on the stand (it's now resting on the Tv itself) It took forever to figure out how it went together because the instructions forgot the most important step. I get it hooked up finally. It doesn't work. I call them. I will say Vzio has some of the best customer service I've spoken to in ages. I finally get the damn thing working. It doesn't look hot because it's a freaking smart TV hooked up with a ten year old coaxial cable because that's how DISH did it back then. When I get back here I'll talk to them about HD tv. I can't get into my router because a) it's barely working and b) the code isn't working. I knew this. they never call you back with the passcodes or the fact it doesn't work.

I'm sore all over. The house looks like I did battle in the living room but I now have a monsterously large smart tv balancing on a piece of shit fiber board TV stand I built back in 1996. Whee.

I am glad you didn't drop that thing on your foot. That would have been nasty.

I read a recent article about delivery services. They get docked if they don't make unreasonable delivery times. So, they are basically forced to throw what ever they are delivering out of the truck and then run.

Yeah it would have broken bones in the mid foot which can be outright crippling.

I believe that. My uncle was a trucker once. It's been like that for years and getting worse. To make matters worse I'm miles from everyone and everything so it's got to take up time.

What [livejournal.com profile] a2zmom said. My sister wanted me to apply to work for FedEx and I just laughed and laughed and laughed.

"Why, what's wrong with it?"

Well, my direction sense for one, for another the timed routes, for another...

I'm glad you didn't break your foot. Eeep.

And how much you have to lift and carry. It's not an easy job. It's very well paid mind you.

That, too. She kept saying, "Under 50 lbs!" I'm like, "When did you last lift 50 lbs?"

Sorry it was such a trial removing the old TV and getting the new one set up.

Yes, old TVs really were that heavy. I remember my old "portable" B&W was heavier than my 46-inch LED...

I thought they came down on UPS for deliveries like that - Arizona had a plethora of security camera footage of screwups like that and a lot of shit hit the fan. At least the idiot didn't completely break your new TV.

I'm still sore as hell and it's still lying in the corner on the floor until I get help to haul its ass out of here.

They SHOULD come down on them. It's not visible while watching if nothing else. sigh.

Yeah, I saw your post about Costco. They do have a good return policy, it's just not that convenient for you. (I know, I know, you WANT to live in the country!)

I could probably haul it to Columbus but I don't have a card. My parents do. It was a gift from them. It's not that bad. Just 90 miles one way.

Oh, just 90 miles one way. (Our Costco is approximately 3.7 miles one-way, going by my odometer... :D )
