It's officially my favorite time of year. I celebrated it by sitting down at my computer to play a few rounds of bejeweled blitz after my first PT session and fell asleep mid-game sitting. Well then.

Actually PT was the big thing for the day. New PT, he's a kid. I'm betting this is his first position. He did SUCH a thorough exam. So Kudos. He went to the same school as my brother. He was pretty horrified by how mess up my right leg/hip is. That's not actually the problem but it barely rotates out but rotates in a good 25 degrees more than it should. It's a birth defect that I know about. The X-rays looked pretty good. It's not so much the knee muscles that are week but the hip. Have to wonder if this isn't all coming from my bad back. I didn't do any therapy today. That starts next week.

Still no news from the GI guys. I'm pissed.

Tonight's new show Rosewood I have to be in 'Castle' mode for this one. Just sit back and take out brain because you know this barely has a passing resemblance to reality. It was sort of fun and ticks a lot of boxes.

We have a smart, handsome African American man with a great job and a great car. He has a healthy relationship with his lesbian sister who works for him and is apparently marrying the other lab tech so you have that. Mom is supportive of both him and her lesbian daughter. There's an interesting level of religiousness without being too over the top. And we have a lady detective who seems to be at least partly Hispanic. So this one is almost over the top with the diversity you know the way real life is.

On the negative side, they try too hard to make him a player, too freaking slick and he comes off as a bit obnoxious. She's a bit on the tiny/thin side to be believable knocking down enormous men. We'll see. It has potential to be good or terrible

i can no longer cut the patterns out well because of my hand but even then doing the math I was like REALLY? freaking 20$ for the pattern alone.

Sadly, patterns can be pricey, but if you get the fabric cheap enough, it makes up for it. The pattern I really like as I want a burlesque skirt is only $10.75. http://www.simplicity.com/p-7517-misses-steampunk-costume.aspx#t-0 And I think I can reuse some of the pieces from another costume, so all I'd need is a hat. I have lace up boots that are mid-calf. I want to go with a black & white theme. I might even be able to refashion an old long sleeved t-shirt into a jacket. I have big biceps & and I always have to play with the pattern to make sleeves & shoulders bigger than the LARGEST size on the pattern. I'm about a 16/18 but a pattern that goes up to 22, the 22 is often too small. o.0 I'd love to meet the idiot who came up with the formula for their sizes, cuz everything is always way smaller than it should be. XD

Maybe I misread the 9 for a 0. But that is very disturbing to know about their patterns because it wouldn't fit then. I have thin arms but I have steroid weight around my waist so i'm weirdly built.

You can do what I did. Go to big lots buy a 5$ top hat for halloween and cover it

Maybe. I have no idea why they're cut like that by they are. So generally when I want to make something that needs to be fitted, I visit my granny who knows how sew & have her help me cut it out so it fits. I'm just fat so things that are of a size to fit, some times are too long in the sleeves for me, or too long is it's skirt.

Yeah, I was thinking Party City. ;p Since I want a black & white look to it, a simple black hat with some black tulle works for me.

I did the math at Joann's this summer and it's like wow for about 20$ more I can just buy the damn thing already made. Not at GOOD one but still. figuring out how many yards I'd need etc etc. I would like to try to sew it but I know my hand is pretty messed up and it might be beyond me at this point.

They can get you on the fabric if you don't have their coupons. It sucks, cuz Walmart used to have fabric, but then they stopped carrying it.

Yeah. Although, if I need a lot of fabric & cotton/poly's fine, I buy king sized flat sheets. While you don't have the selection you do with fabric, for solids it works. I made my Teutonic Knights costume out of sheets. the cape part just needed hemming, (it's still a bit long, but wearable), and the crosses cute out of black fleece that I had lying around from another project appliqued on. A bit id white bias tape was strung through one end for a cord & sewn to hold it in on the cape part. The whole outfit wasn't that expensive to amke at all.I think the wig was the most expensive part at $30. The pattern for the tunic came from the "biblical" one I had bought to make Nuriko's robes/dress & I used the shepherd instead of the angel. The boots were suede ones I got one year for my bday, the sword was a party city find at $10. :D So you need to look & find alternatives to pricey Joanne's fabrics. ;p I have the most fun with stuff I bought & use normal clothes.

Yeah, I hear you on the not nice stuff. Then again, my granny & I found a bunch of pretty silky looking knit fabric in Florida at a Walmart & it was all on sale! :D

Yeah. Cheapie ones, but for something to do a couple of times a year it's fine. If I was dressing up in Steampunk outfits every weekend, I'd invest in a better hat.

Yep, that's why my hat was 5$ at big lots and I did stuff to make it look good. The Ohio Renn fest has a vendor with amazing hats but at the nearly 200$ mark it's like HOW do you stay in business? (yes they're leather and worth every penny of that but...)

Yeah? XD I whipped up a quick Agni costume for my sister from a king sized sheet to go with my Soma one that was made out of clearance fabric. The most expensive part of that was the lil bit of gold sari fabric I needed for the decoration on the chest.

Thanks! XD They will wrinkle, but not too badly. Oh yeah. That's why I like "closet play." If I can wear it again as street clothes, I'm all for it. :D

*nods* I saw pix of one of your hats & I liked it. :D Tell me about it. XD I fell in love with a hat at Otakon, but there was no way I could afford the $150 price tag. They are worth it, since they're well made, but since I haven't done/don't do steampunk all the time, not a good investment.

Me too. That's why I've been cosplaying Chris Mustang. I can wear her dress anywhere and for that matter my steampunk skirt can be worn everyday too.

yeah, even if I lived in a city with a more active steampunk culture, I'd still feel guilty about a 150$ hat

*nods* Cool! One of my fave outfits is my gakuen Prussia one. The only thing I don't wear with it is the white shirt, but I do wear the plaid pants (mine are leggings & wear boots, since I'm too curvy to really be anything other than fem!Prussia), black tee & a red sweat shirt. ;p
