That's the message I got when I got home. My brother had to drive to Cincinnati today and there are a lot of insane interchanges in OH (Cleveland and Columbus in particular have several) where you have to fly across like 4 lanes of traffic to make your exit with less than a quarter mile to do it. Also the exit and entrance ramps being in basically the same thought, as if all the civil engineers in OH were high. Yes, brother I KNOW this state is stupid.

And happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] mamculuna I didn't want to say that on my pissy post yesterday. Hope it was a great day.

Since the vote for equal pay for ALL labs went against the science department I'm pretending I'm in Cinci with my brother. Remember that episode of TBBT where Leonard and the guys hide out from Sheldon when he's sick? Yeah that's my go to when L is upset because I just don't have the fortitude for it (also any of MY concerns tend to get ignored so...)

And this weekend is GRL, the BIG gay romance con and of course I can't go. A lot of us can't (it's always west coast I think which makes it insanely expensive) Anyhow we're having a not-pity-party on facebook. If you or someone you know likes m/m romance let me know. I think you have to be invited to the party but you can friend me at Jana's FB and I can invite you. We're giving away TONS of books.

I had the weirdest dream last night. I wish I could remember more of it. I remember being on the run in a weird world. One place we hid out made everyone's skin itch (don't ask me who I was with. I knew these people I think they were friends and family yet I couldn't recognize anyone's face). Another we had to run from the 'framers' and they were chasing up with the lower corners of giant picture frames. At one point we were put into gigantic tanks for reptiles.

Finally we ended up in an older, slower town (sort of like the turn of the century) and there while I was resting from being on the run I met with Anthony Stewart Head and was SO thrilled. He was very nice and spent a lot of time talking with me.

Other than that I slept very poorly and today didn't go much better than yesterday. The puppy is back in the guy's apartment but this morning ALL his kid's big wheels/trikes were all over the sidewalk like he owns that patch (well he THINKS he does)

Meeting ASH even in a dream isn't too bad.

Sigh for the big wheels in the pathway.

no it is not. I was very happy

these people are going to cause so much trouble

Definitely trouble.

I think the place that makes people's skin itch is Arizona. My skin is soooo dry today.

I also live in a stupid state...

hahahaha YES. Arizona will do that to you.

And I'm not arguing with you on that other point either

Thanks!

Ohio roads sound like ours--Malfunction Junction is probably a favorite name there, too.

hahaha I've never heard that but I'm going to use it. Suddenly here we're all about the round abouts. Never mind that NO BODY in Appalachia has ever seen a damn round about and have no idea how to use them and we've put three of the four in areas that don't even NEED one. They barely needed an intersection.

Roundabouts are better than the weird things that only let you turn right, so sometimes there's just no way to get where you're going.

so sometimes there's just no way to get where you're going

Ah, have you been to Pittsburgh? Hemmed in on all sides by rivers and mountains there is no way to get anywhere you want to be without a trillion one way streets and taking a damn hour

I the CEs who layout cities, design roads, etc were all high. >.>
We have parkways that were designed by Robert Moses that were built when the top speed of a car was 40 miles an hour, so you can just imagine tho on ramps to on in some places. Imagine trying to get up to speed on a circular ramp than when it finally does straighten out, you've got hope you car can go from zero to 60 in seconds flat with less than 2, 3 car lengths to merge on. And if there's a bit of traffic in the right lane, you're not going anywhere except the end of the ramp. XD So pretty much you have to forget what you learned in Defensive driving & drive like a NYC cab driver. XD

Happy bday to your friend!

OY! I've heard rumors that they were going to raise the minimum wage for fast food workers, if that doesn't include us, I can see peeps rushing to flip burgers. If it does include us, you're going to have disgruntled workers complaining about working years to get to their pay grade, only to have someone walk in off the street & make exactly the same. But knowing the company I work for, they'll screw us out of the pay increase. >.>

I friended Jana & I'll try to pop in. I'm not really sure how FB works. I have one & basically all I use it for is signing into other places & looking at pix friends have posted there & want to show me. XD

You have some of the best & wildest dreams! :D

Glad the puppy's back inside, although part of me wonders if it's not better in a shelter. I'm also kinda worried about the kids in that apartment. If Dad is tossing their toys around, yelling & carrying on, & locking the puppy out, I wonder what goes on that no one knows about & are those kids in danger.

SNort. Helpful. That reminds me of merging onto the Major Deegan when I used to work at the Bronx VA. Here you have 5 seconds to merge before you hit a damn wall.

oh geez

hahaha, I'll go over and see if I can send you an invite.

Yeah I worry about that little girl.

Yeah. XD I've never driven on it, but I know what you're talking about. It's crazy. XD

Yeah. XD

Thanks! :D

Me too & I've only heard about what's going on through you. It must be a HUNDRED times worse actually hearing it & seeing the aftermath.

it is and that damn puppy is outside again

XD Why do peeps get puppies & Kittens & then treat them like garbage? And that poor kid, It's you can have the puppy, no you can't, you can have the puppy, no you can't. XD I wonder if every time that puppy messes in the house, it gets tossed outside. Seriously, take it for a walk & praise it if goes outside & it'll get the hang of it. XD

I think what they do is toss the puppy out whenever they leave because it's not house broken

Date: 2015-10-17 11:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kiramaru7.livejournal.com
That's not a reason to do that. XD

no, if nothing else lock it in the bathroom with papers down

Exactly. But better yet, take the time to house break it. They going to throw it outside in the winter too?

Columbus is especially stupid.  There is an interchange I am supposed to take on my way to my friend's house up there that we refer to as "The Scribble" because it literally looks like someone scribbled several times in a circle on the map right there.  GPS can't give instructions fast enough to navigate it correctly.  The GPS will put you in one lane to keep from getting of the right road at one part but then you miss the next one (the one you need) because it comes up too quickly for you to get over to where you can get of there. Go home Columbus engineers! You're drunk!

Having done home health in Columbus and knowing its streets probably better than anywhere in the world, I can not argue this. They are dumb. Cleveland is a close second at three times the traffic

Date: 2015-10-24 05:56 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ishte.livejournal.com
Agreed on Cleveland too. Lol. But I've never encountered drivers in Ohio as purposely rude as in Cincinnati. I have routinely had drivers speed up to prevent me from changing lanes in front of them and then when I slow down to go behind them to get the lane I need that same driver will then slow down to also prevent me from getting in their lane behind them. What purpose could that possibly serve? Why would anyone even do that other than to be an asshole?

From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
Cleveland drivers did that a lot too . I've encountered that a lot in a a lot of states. Makes me wish I had a James Bond car with rocket launchers

Just remember that THE Malfunction Junction is at Interstate 75 and Ohio State Route 4. Over 1200 accidents in 2008. I understand that the redesign (which is as yet unfinished as it also includes redesign of the I-75 and US Route 35 interchange less than a mile south) has already decreased that number by an estimated 90%. This is the second major redesign of this set of interchanges in my lifetime. They both sucked majorly. The first did very little to help the malfunction.
