Poetry Month
Apr. 27th, 2005 09:46 pmI still feel like death warmed over. My students thought I was going to pass out before class even started. I had to do the bone lecture today which was met with much whining and everyone leaving their brains at home. I kept saying I'M READING FROM THE HANDOUT WORD FOR WORD! WRITE NOTHING! Just look at where I'm pointing on the bone. It took 3 hours and I lost my voice.
But since I all but missed poetry month and in honor of the new series proposal here's my poem by Robert Frost. ANd if anyone wants to drabble/ficlet to it for me that'd be cool. If not, just enjoy the poem.
I have been one acquainted with the night.
I have walked out in rain --and back in rain.
I have outwalked the furthest city light.
I have looked down the saddest city lane.
I have passed by the watchman on his beat
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.
I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet
When far away an interrupted cry
Came over houses from another street,
But not to call me back or say good-bye;
And further still at an unearthly height
One luminary clock against the sky
Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right.
I have been one acquainted with the night.
