I'm sure it was my June birthday just last week. When I was young I never believed my parents when they said time went too fast when you were adult. Boy was I dumb.

It was a do nothing day other than getting groceries. I was so tired I knew something was wrong this morning but took a minute to figure out what. I had pulled today's panties on over yesterday's. Brilliant.

Mostly I just worked on final exams while chuckling to myself maniacally. I'm really only posting tonight because I wanted to share this link and I knew I'd forget.

It's a very good writing post. Honestly I've never heard of the words 'filter words' before but I use them a lot apparently and I see the point of this post. I see less the point of the post I snagged this from where that blogger wanted everyone to stop using them in the first draft. To that, I say get over yourself. If I had to worry about making it pretty and perfect in draft one it would never get done. filter words

And while I'm posting links have these: Fandom Stocking is open on dreamwidth. It's always a fun thing to do. Sign up and join us. here

And I posted my bingo card fills for all bingo on DW, so you can see things from my nano I might not have shared here. You can find that post here

My writers group got into filter words when one of our members started writing first person present tense. There was a lot of "I saw" and "I noticed," which does keep the reader at arm's length instead of riding right in the narrator's head, which is the whole point of FPPT. As for keeping filter words out of rough drafts--fine, if you're training yourself never to use them at all and don't mind writing slowly. And yeah, the editing will go quicker if you aren't weeding out all the saws and felts and rejiggering a bunch of sentences. Otherwise it's just going to gum up your creative process.

they do but yeah I would just kill my muse if I worried about this in draft one. I'd rather do what I do with weasel words and do a search and fix them in draft two
