BIGFOOT!

So I decided to go to a Bigfoot talk at my local library and got some of my friends to go. We made a night of it. Went to Arch & Eddie's for dinner, had an Arrogant Bastard (I think Stone changed the brewing recipe. I don't remember it being this bitter). I was late because I also did my laundry and first the one washer quit filling probably the moment I was out the door and in the library. I had to rewash it and then it didn't drain so everything was sopping wet (You can't set these to just spin) so I had to put it in the dryer twice (I had to go back after dinner and the owner did give me back my money) and I STILL had to hang everything up here.

The talk was good but disorganized. Naturally I bought one of his books at more money than is smart. What I didn't like (and my friends commented too) that for someone who claims he's done dozens of these talks (and certainly many in this area) why does his powerpoint have like 300 slides and his partner shows it in slideshow format so she can race up and down and try to match the pictures to what he's talking about? Have a freaking outline man.

Apparently 2 1/2 hours north of me (literally where I get on I-70 via I-77) is Bigfoot central. Also many sightings here in Jackson (including one guy I think was making the presenter nervous because he was looking for stories and this guy was a wee bit out there.)

While I've never heard this
or this
I have seen these. in Wisconsin. Now I can say I've seen Bigfoot evidence (to be honest I'm not entirely sold on Bigfoot but whatever).

As if to make up for the shitty laundry experience I learned I won the library's Blind Date contest and got a literal basket of books (last time I won I just got one!)

I have Scents and Sensibility (mystery), The Last Boleyn (historical) The Irish Princess (historical), The Testing (YA dystopia) Bzrk (SF, YA) Inhuman (you guessed it, YA dystopia) The Boundless (historical YA)

I think the mystery and Boundless are the two I'm most looking forward to and the least to the two Karen Harper historicals (though I am SO dystopia-ed out it's not funny).

I got a response back from the publishing house and not one I was hoping for. They said as of last month they're no longer transferring previously published stories into the non-romance line and only taking new. While I understand you want NEW stuff in a new line, it really makes no sense not to put something so obviously misplaced somewhere it might do better. So I'm very disappointed needless to say. I did ask about Blood Red Roulette because I'm not sure it belongs in romance and was told they are now reading for all three lines at once and determining which it fits into better. I hope THAT is a new thing too because if they were doing that last year someone dropped the ball on SoS and not just me.

Being in the chair for an hour at the library made my hip hurt so ungodly much that my dreams of flying anywhere overseas right now have died a terrible death. Weeps.
