The American Library Association has posted their list of 100 most frequently banned (challenged) books. So it's also read a banned book time. Go, read, fight the stupidity. As for me I've read the following 3,5,6,7,8,13,16,18,19,20,22,23,28 (for research in case anyone's wondering, not being gay figured it's best to do the bookwork to write better scenes), 32,37,40,41,47,51,52,55,56,60,62,69,70,71,72,73,77,83,84,85 (wow half my high school reading list is on here) My life goal is now to be banned as many times as Stephen King.

Also, aaronlisa put me on to a writing community100words_100day  where you basically committe to write 100 words a day for 100 days. Most seem to be tallying up by the week. I did the tally of the stuff I REMEMBER writing (there's more I can't remember) and wrote over 20,000 words last week. No wonder my hand and ass are numb.

Why teachers have nervous breakdowns

It's painfully obvious. First I get waylaid by some students. They're bored. They just had all this chem stuff in high school. Do they have to come? No, you're an adult. Do what you want so long as the homework is done. I'm moving too slow for them. Then the boss catchs me and tells me I'm slightly behind, pick up the pace. So we do protein and DNA for 45 minutes. One student (one of the older one) complains loudly she has a problem with me because I'm going too fast (this is the one I've been holding hands with since day one). We go on break. One student hunts me down to tell me that even though I ASKED if it was going to fast and everyone said no, half the class (you guessed it the older ones) are all crying it's too fast. So I repeat the WHOLE damn lecture because half of them just don't get it.

Sigh. The real problem is my class is divided in half, half 18-21, half 45-60 years of age. There's no way of easily balancing (if at all) the speed of lecture and info. Going in tomorrow onmy day off to talk the boss (whom I found out my class is packed because they don't like him because he's too fast) in order to figure out a way to deal with this. Of course, once we get to skin I think this will resolve.

Also found out that despite tellnig me they were fine with the histology slides last week, 50% couldn't figure out how to evenuse the scopes today. a third haven't looked at the dvd or cd or have and couldn't figure out that they had to find the titles of the lectures and NOT go by the order of info on the cd. I mean should I tell them to go find the histo lecture and not just click on the first heading which is something totally different? And when I tell them to get their drinks OUT of the lab I'm ignored (they did NOT ignore the boss when he popped in and yelled) Let's see how many of them go to the dean and bitch.

Sigh.

and on a totally different note here's this from penguin boy. WHO is this woman? And damn, if she's coming over couldn't she bring me china white instead of Mexican tar?

I thought I was gonna make the boss cry when I told him that a) a fraction of my class didnt' realize there was lab photos on the class cd even though I showed them about a dozen of them IN class like I was teaching first graders and b) that they're playing the DVD's in order rather than looking to see if they have the right SUBJECT before hitting play....

Let's see, how can I waste time before lunch gets cooked and before I HAVE to do my lecture for tomorrow...ah, yes, I finished the very rough draft of Hyperion's Son and it's in the hands of beta's. I finished a Wolverine/Rogue story that's been set aside so I can mull it before editing it.  I've got the first few scenes of my Behind the Scenes ficathon story done. Should start looking for a beta. Anyone want to read a Steven as a little boy in Quor-Toth story? Oh and another chapter of Built on Lies is done. Check it out if you're so inclined.
