Close call
Sep. 30th, 2004 11:07 amDamn near woke up dead this morning. I woke the first time around 6 Am and since I work nights there was no need to get up that early. I was feeling queasy, shaky and almost drunk. As I stumbled to the bathroom I thought maybe I should check my blood sugar but decided nah, I KNOW I've been exposed to whooping cough and the flu I'm just getting sick. It was worse two hours later when I did actually decide to get up. My blood sugar was 35. I'm not sure how I didn't just slip into a coma. Feeling a little better for the sugar I just ate. Now to shove in some protein...
And here's last night's update that didn't get put on because first LJ was acting like an ass then my dial up crapped out entirely and said there was no dial tone (it lied)
Target Practice. That's what I'd like to use a few of my students for. I have student assistants now taking the 80 pages of student written questions and removing the duplicates and the badly written questions to make it easier on them (and I just tried to use this thing as a study guide and it's a bitch. I hate it) so it's now about 30 pages long and they're STILL bitching. How does the assistant know what we're studying? My questions aren't here, we never talked about this...yadda yadda. My response the student was an A student in this class, she has our objections and if you don't like it we can go back to 80 pages. The student assistant blew her top on them. Saying 'hey this is a TON of work for me and if you don't like it I just won't do it).
THEN we started bitching at me because I skipped something on the outline. After 6 weeks of this SAME bitch I lost it in class...well, calmly lost it. I think the drop in my tone and the glacial winds that blew in when I told them the outline was there so they could learn to SPELL words and that I TELL them when I move of it should be adequate. If they DONT like it I'll forego the outline and it's every man for himself (or herself in this case).
The dean met me in the hall to give me a pep talk and told me to lay down the law. I've been too easy on them it seems. THIS is your assignment so do the work (i.e. the dean's tired of hearing my students whine to her) You know pissing off the professor the day she's making up YOUR test is just another measure of how dumb you are.
