When you suddenly out of nowhere put your head on the desk and start crying. The impetus? Your fictional characters have a more interesting life than you do.

Then later go into the living room, see the unpacked mess, get mad and throw the boxes all over the floor.

Going to inservices should be just a blast if I don't get sleep soon.

Dear Dell,

I know your name rhymes with Hell but if you keep this up you'll find yourself there in short notice. I started working on a very short and simple project for school that had to be done by Wed at 9:30 AM. It's not 12:30 AM and I'm just now finishing

Power Point - freezing up every time I try to open a presentation is not helping. Freezing when I got to save, also not helping. Putting slides whereever the hell you want, ditto. And my personal time wasting favorite, not being able to use the insert picture from file function. Now, please by all means make me have to double click on the import function and have to go around the horn for EVERY picture I need.

Microsoft Word - quit taking lessons from Power Point. There is no need to freeze whenever I go to retrieve a file and when I close one, please remove it from the task bar. Seeing four closed files is disorienting. Also, when I go to retrieve a file please have it there. Do not make me use the search function to find a file that i know I saved in a specific folder and the search shows IS in that folder but you won't let me have direct assess to it.

Internet Explorer - Yes I know you're a crappy browser but the dial up is too slow to download a good one so honestly, buggaring up every ten minutes while I search for pictures is not helping.

CPU in general slowing to a crawl and requiring me to reboot you three times in one day is totally annoying.

Do better or die.

Mental Health will Drive you Mad...

My computer took the open letter to heart and refused to format the new discs I just bought. Fearing my powerpoints were forever trapped on my harddrive I find an old disc from my WI stash that I knew worked. It says it'll take 25-45 minutes to format. WTF? THis is usually done in a matter of seconds. It does take 25 min. to format. When it ejected it didn't give me the security options and went just for the read on all computers (which is what I wanted). It did read on teh school computer.

However, two things happened today. The other dr. didn't show because it was her last free day, she lived 40 miles away and gas is now 2.70 here (but she didn't email me until something to 2 pm and I didn't look at email until 330 because my computer at work wouldn't log on (there were two devans so there was a problem) So I whipped myself into this frenzy for nothing. And the other dr and I had lunch and the upshot is no one wants to even put up a powerpoint because of copyright issues.

I might get away with using the text box CD rom illos or do my own (Oh yeah right) well the one book has bunches of illos and NO key to them. Bang head some more. Then I get the brilliant idea (surprised that neither I nor my esteemed collagues ever thought of this) google copyright free science images and found websites dedicated to that. Now to spend tonight removing all the pictures it took me hours to find....and replace them.

Stay safe inside insanity...

So we're all worried (justifiable so) about what graphics we can put in our powerpoints AND still put them up on webct for the students since let's face it, copyright free science graphics barely exist (I spent over 2 hours at the sites I found to discover this fact) I'm not to worried about making these initial copies and handing them out hard copy but it obviously a concern. No one has a suggestion.

Then they hand me the cd roms that go with my text books that allow us this limited use of their graphics PLUS all the lectures are already power pointed. So I've been making my head explode for...no real reason. Now, I'm assuming the power points aren't the best or else we'd all be using them and putting no thought into our lectures. My question is (I'll do it during office hours because the cd-roms hate my computer and vice versa) can I take their power points, and ADD to them my own.

I have the new faculty meeting tomorrow all morning. Worse on friday is meetings ALL day. My co-workers are ticked because well, they needed the time for themselves and getting some pizza thrown at you after 6 hours of meetings isn't much compensation. Sigh.

GIP!

She made me this one too

I'm making a ficlet in return. Why am I thinking the only thing in mind is so not what she'll be expecting.

And there you go. I'm now up to 20 icons. That'll probably be as close to my 100 as I'll get
