Hey guys. chelle86 wants to go to fantasycon in Nottingham this coming fall. Thing is she'll be coming in from Malta and while she can get all the details from the website that doesn't really give you a feel for the con. Since I have a nice chunk of friends from the UK, I said I'd ask you guys, have you ever been to Fantasycon before? Was it enjoyable or a waste of time? THings to look forward to or runaway from. More on that original fic writing prompt stuff

I’m just spitballing here, trying to work up a little something for that original fic writing prompt thingie that I’m admittedly stealing from everyone else. There is certainly a fair amount of interest in it. I still have worries about posting original fiction in semi-public forums because publishers just don’t frown on that, they usually won’t touch you if its out there for free. I’m not sure how snippets are viewed (if someone wants to do the work and find out, feel free).

My thoughts for this is once a week have a prompt tossed out there (suggestions from the peanut gallery are most welcome) and we write at least 100 words. I’m looking at this group to be more for support than viewing of the fiction. Now, if we want to do that, we could probably easily just email the bits out to those interested in seeing it. I mean at this point most of us have one throwaway email for junk like this, an email we don’t mind sharing.

Does this sound okay with everyone? Do we want to find a way of totally locking up the posts and actually put our stuff or just leave this as prompts and support like some of us did during Nano. In fact, mzzgoddessblue has offered the use of our Nano site for this and I’m now one of the moderators. (Thanks!) So if you’re interested you can leave me a note here and sign up at nanomowhinging

Lastly I want this to be fun, low pressure and well small. I think we’ll lose something if the group gets too big (not that I think there’s any real fears of that). I hope we can turn out some decent scenes that take us one step closer to publication.
