More on that original fic writing prompt stuff

I’m just spitballing here, trying to work up a little something for that original fic writing prompt thingie that I’m admittedly stealing from everyone else. There is certainly a fair amount of interest in it. I still have worries about posting original fiction in semi-public forums because publishers just don’t frown on that, they usually won’t touch you if its out there for free. I’m not sure how snippets are viewed (if someone wants to do the work and find out, feel free).

My thoughts for this is once a week have a prompt tossed out there (suggestions from the peanut gallery are most welcome) and we write at least 100 words. I’m looking at this group to be more for support than viewing of the fiction. Now, if we want to do that, we could probably easily just email the bits out to those interested in seeing it. I mean at this point most of us have one throwaway email for junk like this, an email we don’t mind sharing.

Does this sound okay with everyone? Do we want to find a way of totally locking up the posts and actually put our stuff or just leave this as prompts and support like some of us did during Nano. Lastly I want this to be fun, low pressure and well small. I think we’ll lose something if the group gets too big (not that I think there’s any real fears of that). I hope we can turn out some decent scenes that take us one step closer to publication.

I somehow doubt that snippets written in a locked post that may or may not end up on the cutting room floor before a full piece sees the light of day are in any danger of preventing publication. That said, I wouldn't mind the option of "passing" on weeks when I've written something that i just don't feel like sharing.

in a comm, can you set the posts to automatically lock to friends only? i have no idea if you can, but i bet you can figure out. And I don't know if I can take myself off as a maintainer, as i created the community ages ago, and taking myself off may delete it or something like that. But I'm not going to mod. That's gonna be your job! LOL. I'll just be a participant.
