musings, rantings and memes
Dec. 9th, 2006 06:13 pmrantings - adobe acrobat needs to die. Every time i try to acess the test bank cd's it freezes. Bite me. Oh well, so much for not having to type the WHOLE final
musings - the anti-Mary Sue. Lately in my favored genre (mystery) I've been seeing an archetype I've taken to calling the anti-MS. Okay she still has friends and all but she's NOT pretty (striking maybe) she has bad hair, she doesn't wear make up, she doesn't know how to dress herself or handle herself at parties. Often she has a scheming mother/sister/best friend telling her how to 'improve' herself. Now, this woman exists of course. Heck, she's mostly me and a good chunk of my flist. The thing is I'm tired of seeing her. Mostly I think because she seems to be used as a model to break out of the feminine model of women are nothing but pretty eye candy who can't do much of anything. I'd like to see something different I guess. How about a woman with average looks, a slight clue as how to dress herself and has a touch of social grace, you know like most average women. I'm having trouble rooting for a woman who's even more of a social outcast than i am. Thoughts?
as for the meme, well it's not meant to be taken seriously of course and it does mean to be snarky (i usually place in ISTP in case you're wondering)
( brutually honest personality test )
and where i usually test on the Meyer-Briggs ( istp )
