drowning in responsibility
Oct. 6th, 2009 09:57 pmI can barely keep my head above water. At least the vision statement for the department is done (penned by me). Yesterday Dr. M and I had to go to Columbus to learn how to use all this computerized lab stuff that's been sitting in a box since BEFORE I was hired here and no one knew about (long story). It's a haul from here and after working all day...
Still, it was a good night. For beginner and intermediate labs the vernier equipment is pretty amazing stuff. I would killed for it as a student. I'm glad we know how to use it. Might need a grant to get the new handheld sensors but they are SO MUCH more user friendly than the ones that had to be wired to a computer which isn't possible really in our labs.
I did my usual thing to computers. The handheld froze up right when he was showing us how to trouble shoot that. NONE of the troubleshoots worked and I was made to go use the computer instead of playing with the slick handheld. I did feel silly that Dr M and I were the ONLY college profs there. THis is a cheaper system usually used by K-12 and apparenly poor-ass rural colleges
Dear bleached blond 50+ driving the convertible sebring at the Jackson laundromat, do you realize that parked over two spots and stayed there for over three hours? That you made everyone around you STOP what they were doing so you could be queen of the fucking laundromat and topped it off by taking a chair outside so you can smoke (we appreciate that much at least) but then put the chair IN the doorway instead of going just 6 inches to the side and got pissed when I wanted out. You're lucky I didn't ram you full speed with the plastic laundry bin you dumb bitch.
I MUST get the shapeshifter thing done within a day or two since it's deadline time. Past deadline on the writers group. I have everything read but not typed in yet. GaH.
