Since I’ve been storing all my food in the fridge instead of my mice-ridden pantry, the fridge is crowded. I noticed plenty of stuff that I didn’t need and things had gotten knocked over and spilled. I’ve been doing a shelf a week. Throwing out bottles of dressing and the like, old jars with next to nothing less, forgotten salsa etc. I’ve hauled BAGS of garbage and recycles out of there and still it looks insanely crowded. How can it look crowded when I’ve removed so much?
And I found more to put in it. I went up to the farmer’s market and Pig Iron Festival in Jackson. At the market for 6$ I got a quart of fresh picked blackberries, a golden zucchini, two eggplants and a cantaloupe. The lady wanted to sell me 3 quarts for 12$ so she could go home. I said I could only take one. I figured my god. It’s a quart. I can’t eat all that. Um…it’s almost empty. Should have bought them.
The pig iron fest was a glorified car cruise with a hog roast.
How am I supposed to vote at
fma_fic_contest? There’s always a lot of talent there but this time everyone outdid themselves.
I did get out there and deadhead some flowers and got seeds from my yellow daylilies. I’ve ever seen lilies give up seeds before. While rooting around in the watermelons I got hit in the face with something. I look around and there’s a peeper. Silly frog is making a home in my watermelons.
Landlord came. Fixed up the a/c before it totally broke. Wish he had fixed the windows. It’s gorgeous tonight but I can’t open them since the moron he hired to powerwash the place totally destroyed my screens. He made promises about getting stuff and fixing the bathroom. Uh huh.
And the sucking rolls on. I called around. No DSL anywhere. No cable either (there goes the dream of pitching DISH along with Verizon). AT&T apparently is partnered up with Hughesnet. They claim if I rent the satellite, I’d get 60 meg of download for 9$ more than I’m paying Verizon. My fears are naturally engaged since a) satellite tv blows (he claimed hughesnet was military made and better with 13 satellites to DISH’s 2) b) it’s expensive if you don’t lease, like 400$ to hook up c) I’ve heard a shitload of unhappy people d) the price he quoted was NOT what I saw when I got rid of dial up. It was 20$ under that. On the plus side i would have to call it Maes
I would need to do more investigating. And naturally I can’t because of the limit on my broadband. However, Verizon on the phone today says it’s only 5 cents a meg if you go over. Um I could double my allotment and only pay a quarter in that case. Spent all afternoon talking to them. Guess what. They had NO answer for why the shit reception wasn’t caused by me being in a rural leafy valley like they kept telling me. Denver, slow as hell, Evansville and Indianapolis, better than Denver actually, Berlin OH couldn’t even find the remote computer, Pittsburgh, connected with NO bars and couldn’t load a page. And now the software screws up every time my computer goes to sleep and I have to either task manager it closed and restart the software OR reboot the computer if that doesn’t work. Uninstalling and reinstalling helped not. She’s sending me the upgraded broadband receiver free.
Btw thanks to everyone for their litterbox advice.
