Brain Theatre Night Two

I dreamt one of my problem students (Have never actually seen this person in RL) was in my house and that my mom/roommate (I wasn't clear on this) let him in. He woke me up. I was in my nightgown and pretty pissed off that a) he was in my bedroom and b) my housemate left him in. He was all weepy eyed and mad that he was failing and could I help him? I don't remember the whole conversation now but I got the idea that he was going off the rails on a crazy train.

I finally got him calmed down and thinking gah I'm here in my pale blue nightgown. No student should see me like this. As I was hustling him out of the room, I saw this brownish carapace on my mattress. I was furious and grossed out. OMG a roach. However, when i reached down to get it, it clamped onto my finger. It was a little crab not a roach.

I was all excited and I showed it dangling from my finger to the student and to the housemate and he said maybe it came from the gift he had had brought me to b utter me up. He gave me a plastic ball with a bigger crab in it. 'They're 'land' crabs' he said so I take them both into work and my dept chair, the ecology prof and I are all standnig in one of the labs looking at an 'aquarium that is land on one side and on the other is aquatic with a little slide the crabs could go from one to the other. INside some very tannic murky water was another crab, a brightly colored snake and this thing had a lab desk top on it and served as the instructor desk for the lab.

As I'm arguing with Dept Chair that it's too dirty for my pet crabs, I reach in to demonstrate and see and even larger grey snake-like thing that keeps lashing out like cthulu is clawing his way out of this tank. I finally decide I'm going to put my pets in a smaller terrarium/aquarium in my office but then the dreamed turned into another of my labyrinthine building dreams and I woke up before i could get there.

and it was another night of waking every other hour. so sleepy.

Writerly Ways

Really all I have time to do this week is go. OMG it's little over a week to Nanowrimo then flail around until I slam into something and with luck i'll wake up and it's decemeber.

I do have a title, Voluntary Nightmare since most of the main characters could have walked away from this and done nothing. It would have been easy to do nothing but they took the hard path to try and change things. I have most of the main characters in my head and have done for years.

I have a 'book cover' photo and should pass it on to someone with better photo editing software than I do, especially since my very broad hint to coworker L was a real swing and a miss. Instead she tells me about the brand new Mac she bought herself (i.e. you now have TWO old macs, i just wanna borrow it for a half hour).

I know I have at least 25K of scenes in my head right now. It's the back half and finding TIME to write that scares me shitless especially since I still have an entire unit of lecture material, the hardest one yet, to complete. Hold me.

ANd with that in mind I'll skip the word count bars tonight and get back to school work.

Kanda has had a rough weekend

First off, I've been in HIS brown chair for large chunks of it as I sort through boxes. Today, while sitting there, I hear him screaming. I look over. SOul is on a kitchen chair and has a nail hooked through Kanda's eyebrow and is literally ripping Kanda's face off. That skin was stretched and I'm trying to calmly make Soul stop figuring if I scare him there is going to be blood everywhere (Kanda is fine and now everyone wants Soul dead).

Coworker L called today to see what I want to do with the haunted house. I can be there all next week (kiss finishing big bang goodbye. wonders if i can do this in my office hour...) I might be a scary character but I'm not sure if I can work the equipment. Yes, i can push a button but can I reset the scare? Also we're doing this in an old tobacco barn (which is apparently doing double duty as a humane shelter overflow but the dogs will be moved elsewhere on the farm). It's supposed to be COLD, as in potentially snowing cold. I'm from Pittsburgh. The old joke is you have to be sure your halloween costume can fight under a snow suit. That said I'm not sure i wanna hang out until midnight in the frigid weather.

I don't know what the hell I did to myself exercising today but my whole left hand is numb. I might have pinched the radial nerve since that's what's tingling like it's asleep. Been doing this since 4 pm....gah.

Speaking of GAH, what in the HELL would anyone want to split the smallish SF/Fantasy audience by puting Grimm up against Fringe? Seriously? I want to see this. It sounds a little bit like DC's Fables which I regret not continuing with a human rather than the Big Bad Wolf as the detective. I will skip Fringe to see the premiere but really...

Speaking of premiere's Once Upon a Time was okay. I'll give it a few more tries but I was underwhelmed.

and how did making soup take my whole afternoon?
